Re: EarthQuaker Devices - Hoof Fuzz

The original leds are 3mm clear red? Yes. [ Image ] Question: During play, can You see flashing all D1-D4 diodes or only D3-D4? Clipping diodes, even LEDs, do not normally light up at all. Thanks Bato. D3 and D4 diodes light up only when I hit strings. When strings are muted D3 and D4 are not light...

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender Mark II Professional [schematic]

I tried trimmers and decided I don't need any more options to mess up something that works perfectly fine the way it was designed. But then again I was lucky enough to score a handful of OC75s. All they need is a little swapping transistors around to make it behave nicely. Getting the voltages out ...

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender Mark II Professional [schematic]

Not sure if they tell you that it needs to be 4.5V, but users here and an other forums have told me several times that their sets do measure 4.5V on Q3's collector with the supplied resistor values. The schematic they use isn't correct either. It has a 100k on Q1's base and a 47k on Q2's collector ...

Re: Marshall MA 100C 100 Watt All Valve Amplifier

since I've switched over to using two Chinese 12AX7B preamp valves you won't have any more problems - those Sovtek /EHX tubes are the most unpredictable and worst emission tubes I have ever had the misfortune to have used ;-) I would not be at all surprised if they were the cause of most of your pr...

Re: Marshall MA 100C 100 Watt All Valve Amplifier

I recently bought a new Orange OR15 from a reputable internet website. The amp arrived with a buzzing noise. Turned out to be the effects loop tube. I replaced that tube and two days later an output tube blew, taking the fuse with it as well. I asked for a replacement amp at that time. Orange attemp...

Jimmy, love the videos!!. Do you have a link to the schematic or vero for this pedal?

Re: Enclosure painting

Learn how to etch an enclosure... its easier than baking the painted enclosure and it looks better too (in my humble opinion!). i did... also came out messy. I use the toner transfer method on a previously well sanded enclosure, so that the iron is most paralell to the surface as possible and this ...

Re: Simple Woolly Mammoth clone refuses to cooperate

While fiddling with the board, I was actually able to get some sound for a split second while jiggling the Q2 transistor. I figured it might have a loose solder joint on the socket holding it in place, so I desoldered the socket and soldered the transistor directly to the board, but even after that...

Re: Simple Woolly Mammoth clone refuses to cooperate

Take a box cutter, a razor blade or penknife and clean between the traces on your vero board. Vero is unforgiving of solder bridges and flux fried between the traces.

Re: paisley drive volume

The 100r resistors are there for filtering. You alter the sound of the pedal a little when you remove them and gain almost no volume as written above already. Looking at the circuit diagram there is a current booster before the output that should have compensated for any volume loss. Make sure the j...

Re: Orange Micro Terror

Took mine apart last night to get pics and could not do any better than what is currently posted here without removing the board. At some point I may get ambitious and take the board out, but I have not been too lucky in the past messing around inside my amplifiers so I am keeping my curiosity in ch...

I have one of these if anyone wants better pics of the guts. That'd be nice if you have the time and don't mind opening yours up to look inside. What do you think of it? I've been tempted to buy one myself, thinking it may give a good overdrive/distortion sound at lower/house volume? I've come to w...
