Ghost Effects Warmjet V [traced]

It's based on the WEM Project V. This should make reversing the schematic and finding any differences pretty easy.

Re: Joyo Ultimate Octave: how to make it useable?

Replace the germanium diodes with silicon diodes, or for a huge increase in volume, LEDs. Both modifications will increase the clean headroom as well. You won't be able to get it AS heavily compressed and congested sounding, but that may not be a bad thing.

Re: Interfax - Harmonic Percolator [schematic]

Oh, and Harmonics isn't an A50K, I think it's B100K. Page 9 or 10 of the thread should say definitively. I forgot to re-label that.

The lack of an Edit button is kind of a drag.

Re: DOD FX66 - Flashback fuzz [schematic]

If you email DOD and ask they'll usually give a schematic. The web form to request support asks for a serial number, so ideally have one, but I'm sure if you ask nicely they'll help out.

Re: Interfax - Harmonic Percolator [schematic]

Ugh one last note: I specced the MPSA18 there. I don't know that it's a particularly good choice for this, I just left the label there so that in the future folks will be able to look up the datasheet to know which pinout the board uses for Q2.

Re: Interfax - Harmonic Percolator [schematic]

Oh that tiny little break between the right side of the ground pour and the ground side of C1, that can be bridged. It would be if I didn't have thermals on.

Re: Interfax - Harmonic Percolator [schematic]

Aishabag23 asked for my PCB layout, but I lost it a while ago. It was kind of trash tho. So I've done up a brand new one, and it is WAY better. 2" x 1.5", board mounted pots, ground pour with a 50 mil isolation and 86 mil traces. 300 DPI un-mirrored negative is attached. Sardonic Albinator...

Re: Foxx - Tone Machine [schematic]

How are you filtering your power supply?
What does your wiring look like?
Is it in an enclosure?

Show some pictures. Odds are you're either not doing as much filtering on the power supply as they are, or your work isn't as tidy. Sloppy wiring WILL give you a noisier pedal.

Re: SSM2166 Noise Gate - Need comments on schem

Well, the send should be the same as the level coming in. There's no gain applied prior to it, just buffering. So I don't feel the need to have a level control there. Also if I have a hot guitar signal entering the SSM2166 and then trim it down prior to send, there's the increased likelihood that th...

Ugggggh there should be a DC blocking cap between IC2A and VCA IN. And one between IC2C and Send.

Fixed schem:

SSM2166 Noise Gate - Need comments on schem

Hi! I want to use the SSM2166 IC for a noise gate. Specifically though, I want to use the Buffer Out as a send, and have a return connected to the VCA In. The idea being that envelope detection occurs on the clean signal going in, then my effects all go between the send and return, and the output go...

Re: Garnet Whirly-Gig (gutshots)

The way that's put together looks pretty much the same as the amp of his that I have. I've got no doubt he built it. I'd be surprised if he designed it though. And it could easily be just a tremolo. The thing about Gar is that he was a very passionate tinkerer and a great guy and all but he wasn't a...

I've had the same experience as DrNomis. And I've never had a pot fail that wasn't particularly old or subjected to a clearly excessive amount of mechanical wear.

..... Here's a Garnet Whirly-Gig. ..... For some reason they never printer "Garnet" on these things. ..... The question is: who is "they" ? At least this unit is not vintage - have a look at the electrolytics. It is build from some vintage parts but it is soldered together withi...

I would definitely trace it and build a clone with the added controls rather than drilling into such a clean vintage effect. That's in pretty nice condition.

Re: devi ever IMPROBABILITY DRIVE [traced]

I'm pretty sure she just used 100k log pots for everything. If you google any of her other pedals for schematics that's what all of the ones I've seen are. I would suggest 10k with a treble bleed trick would've been far more usable for the volume control on pretty much everything she made. Also her ...

Re: The 'Sound' of Capacitors..

The one thing I've noticed being glossed over here is the issue of manufacturing. Caps are manufactured and as such are susceptible to variation in the manufacturing process. It is not entirely unreasonable to suspect some manufacturers of using less accurate or less reliable facilities, equipment, ...

Re: boss dm-2 [schematic]

You can also use the MN3205 or the V3205, which is a functional equivalent produced by CoolAudio. The DM-2 only runs on 9V anyways. The DM-2 came with both, depending on which year it was produced. There are those who argue that the MN3005 DM-2s sounded better, that the delay is darker and less nois...

Re: DOD - FX25 ( Envelope Filter ) [schematic]

The momentary switches in DOD stomps aren't great, but they're just normal momentary SPST buttons. You can get a bag of 25 for $1 probably on ebay that will be of at least the same quality and get a good five years or more out of one. Also if you email them with a serial number, they'll give you the...
