Re: Diezel VH4 Pedal [schematic]

Bummer, just finished building two and the output is messy and lots of oscillation and motorboating :( I must have stuffed something up, time to start tracing with a scope! Actually im just using 9v to power them at the moment. Would a low voltage or current supply ability cause this? Did you put t...

Re: Box of Hall - Accutronics BTDR-2 Reverb [verified]

I built it without the damp control (center position 2x5k resistors) and like it very much, but it's a bit on the bright side comparing to my dry signal.
Is there somewhere on the schematic I can tweake that ? (damp pot had 0 effect on my build)
Thanks

Re: Diezel VH4 Pedal [schematic]

But I have no sound in bypass and the indicator led does not light. I checked with my DMM and there is nowhere on the 3pdt where I have continuity with the output (front amp output) It should be something stupid I guess... ...actually there is no sound on purpose - if you use the output which is me...

Re: Diezel VH4 Pedal [schematic]

And here is mine. I know it's not very smart to label the pedal with the brand of the original but this one is for me I don't intend to sell it http://nsm07.casimages.com/img/2017/08/15//17081508290514005915221620.jpg http://nsm07.casimages.com/img/2017/08/15//17081508291214005915221621.jpg http://n...

Re: Diezel VH4 Pedal [schematic]

There are 2 mistakes in by BOM above : R26 is 1k instead of 110 ohms, and R28 is 100 ohms instead of 1k There are also a few in 440hz's one, I let you check I finished building Bajaman's board and wow, what a great distortion, very different from the BE-OD as expected, sounds killer, well worth havi...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

On my vero build I shielded the input and upped the 120p to 2n2
Now there is absolutely zero background noise, even with gain and treble full opened, no hum, no wistle, no shhhhh, only great distortion :thumbsup

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

I find all the tone controls very useful, except perhaps that the treble and presence controls are not very different. The Tight control is the most important one, IMHO. It enables you to tweak the sound from fat for relativly low-gain sounds, to tight hot-rodded high-gain sounds. The bass control ...

Thanks psychepool, that must be a tight fit
The C12 change from 120 to 470p does not change the sound (at least to my ears)

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

alltrax, thanks for the clips of your vero build! At 1:29-1:30 between setting 2 and 3 there seems to be quite a bit of noise! I was playing sitting on the floor just in front of the amp  I'd like to verify traces also (maybe something wrong with the PCB), but the Buggs boards are dark and a ...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

I had exactly the same feeling with the ZTX, you loose the spirit of the pedal. Regarding the oscillations, the C12 mod worked well with the circuit unboxed, but they came back once boxed in a 1590B enclosure. A klon buffer in front (I have one always on at the input of my pedalboard) removes them a...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

Anybody ever gonna post any audio clips? If one of the guys that has the retail pedal could do a side by side comparison that would be great but, I would settle for any damn thing at this point! So here is a sample I recorded with my iphone, sorry for the crappy sound, it doesn't do justice to the ...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

On the side of R2 connected to both R33 (tension divider) I have 4,6V, on the other side connected to C1/R3 3,1V Fantastic! There should be no current flow through R2, so no voltage drop. Here is our problem. Could c2 be leaky? Is c1 leaky? Can you measure a voltrage across R1 (1M) you shouldn't, b...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

And for the trace cuts, I apply a horizontal mirror to the layout and print it to scale. I remove all the dots with a Ø3mm punch, then apply the layout on the board and mark all the cuts. Then I cut the traces with a Ø3.5mm drill bit with my small drill press. Again, very easy, fast, no chance for e...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]

Alltrax, i see you glued the printout to the board. Did you ever had problems with it? I don' think that there is much heat with that low Voltage and Current but with some components like voltage regulators I wouldn't be sure about it. Actually I didn't glue per say, I printed it to scale on a self...

... Voltages around pin 1-3 are now different, but still off : Before 8.6; 1.35; 3.1, now 1.36; 3.4; 1.11 ... It does seem weird that u1a is first pegged to the upper rail, now pegged to the lower rail... Couple things to try: Check voltage on both sides of R2 470k. Both sides should be ~4.5V. Lift...
