Re: Kazan - Kvaker [schematic]

Hi, I built it today, and here are my little recommendations, if anyone is willing to build one : 3- I found that a 100K LOG pot for wah works better than 250K LIN. 4- You can use a switch instead of a pot for TIMBRE , because most of the difference in sound is at the extremes of the pot. The switch...

Re: Kazan - Kvaker [schematic]

Hello, I have used one a couple times, and i like it. If we had to remake one : - Which would be the best way to make it louder ? Adding a booster afterwards, or tweaking/swapping some components? - Is there any way to have a wider frequency range ? I always found the frequency sweep to be quite too...

Re: Earthquaker Devices - The Warden [traced]

... Another question :
How would you add a gain reduction indicator led in this device?
(I assume it is the right place to ask for this?)

Re: Earthquaker Devices - The Warden [traced]

Hello, I have built the Warden today on veroboard (using this layout), and it works fine, only the TONE pot doesn't seem to do anything (and it suddenly cuts the signal when fully couter-clockwise). I checked the Delegate schematic (link in the post above), and also have read the Warden user manual....

Re: Seamoon - Funk Machine [schematic]

I spent a few days away and decided to bail on this. Anyone else have luck with the 1458 and Ivlark's layout? I can't get there this way. I may have to redo at some point with the 741's.... mine sounds more like a fixed wah Hello, In the end, did you manage to make it work ? I built it using the sa...

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

Hello,
I'm willing to use a switch to toggle between two input capacitors so i would have the choice to have more bass ("original" Derringer version) or to have a bass cut.
Which capacitor should I put on a switch ? C1 ? C2 ? C4 ?

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

Hello, I'm replying to myself, as well as for future builders : - I made a stupide mistake : I tried to use 2SC828 transistors (as used in the original pedal), without noticing their pinout was not the same than on the layout i used. I tried with 2N2222s, and it worked fine :) - According to this PC...

I love the Redson effects (as well as Rolling, which is the same, i guess), thank you Manfred !
I would be curious to know how it sounds ?

Re: LPD MegaDEN Bass Fuzz

Hi, I must have done something wrong, as after my first try, adding the GAIN pot resulted in a huge loss of wet output volume, and a dirty sound (not in a good way). This is what i did : - I removed the Emittor (bottom) leg of the transistor, soldered it to a wire which got soldered to one side of t...

Re: LPD MegaDEN Bass Fuzz

It's perfectly clear, thank you Nocentelli :thumbsup
I wasn't sure if the FUZZ pot was a GAIN or an INPUT level control : adding a GAIN control might help shaping the sound further.

Now, I have plenty suggestions to experiment :)

Re: LPD MegaDEN Bass Fuzz

Thank you, Nocentolli, it's much appreciated. For a more effective treble control, you could swap the volume pot's lug 3 connection to the wiper/lug 2 of the harmonics pot (i.e. disconnect it from harmonics 3 and swap to the wiper). This will be more like the Rat filter, and you should probably redu...

Re: LPD MegaDEN Bass Fuzz

Also, If i wanted the fuzz to have less "bite" and more "warmth", what could I try (What I am trying to achieve is a sound with less fuzz on the attack, at moderate fuzz settings) ? I tested with various diodes (Germanium, silicon, leds... single, series and parallel), but it didn't seem to affect t...

Re: LPD MegaDEN Bass Fuzz

Hi, Thank you for the nice effect : I built it today, and it's indeed a nice sounding fuzz, with plenty output volume, a handy dry/wet section, and a nice, deep bass tone :) :thumbsup If I wanted to tame the high a bit more and shape the tone further, which components should I try to tweak ? Maybe c...

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

The only differences i used from this layout are these :
- As there are several GROUND and +9V inputs, i used two wires according to the layout below, and did not used the greyed out 9v and ground wires.
- Instead of trimmers, i used pots for VR1 and VR2.

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

Thank you, Ichabod
This is the layout, it was posted and discussed earlier in the thread, and it is verified.
It adds several mods and improvements over the "stock" SuperFuzz.

Re: Univox - Superfuzz [schematic]

Hi, I built a SuperFuxx on veroboard using the Derringer layout, but the effect is dead silent... I have checked 3 times the traces and cuts, the electrolytics polarity, but obviously something is wrong with my build... I am suspecting an issue in the wiring. One thing i am wondering is : ...

Re: Fairfield Circuitry - The Barbershop (gut) [traced]

Thank you, Manfred.
The BarberShop is built, boxed, and running :D
I got rid of the SAG pot, added a "bass" switch, and an output buffer. Now it sounds great anywhere in my effect chain.

Re: Fairfield Circuitry - The Barbershop (gut) [traced]

Yes, i am planning to add this little buffer : https://i.imgur.com/88qaiFI.png http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2014/08/buffers.html I know that the 1M resistor gives the impedance, so this should be good, right ? Should I make the cap bigger, to let more bass through, or does it have another pur...

Re: Fairfield Circuitry - The Barbershop (gut) [traced]

I increased C6, and the bass is back :)
By the way, I tried with a buffer after the pedal, and also the bass came back. I think i will build a small buffer, and put it in the enclosure, so i will be safe wherever i put the pedal in my chain.
