Re: Diezel VH4- Channel 3 Preamp Idea
Your 6ak6 amp sounds really interesting and 3 watts is about all you need on practice days. What B+ did you use? And what Primary Impedance? Looks like 280V and a 22k primary might do it... Is that similar to yours? I went digging into the bowels of an old hard drive... https://stremelguitars.files...

Re: Diezel VH4- Channel 3 Preamp Idea
Oh man, that 6AK6 was built years ago...
It is a 115/6-0-6 3A transformer back to back with another 115/6-0-6 3A transformer into a voltage doubler. I taped the center of the 2 transformers for the filiment voltage

Re: Diezel VH4- Channel 3 Preamp Idea
Cool. Looks good. And that building style will be easily modifiable. Thanks. The only amp I built true point-to-point was my first.. the Doug H Firefly. Serious pain in the ass to modify/troubleshoot... I started making my own eyelet boards when I built my second amp, which was a 3 watt using 2- 6A...

Re: Diezel VH4- Channel 3 Preamp Idea
The 3.3M I have only seen 1M or 220k. I order a 3.3M, probably have a 1M in the stash the 10uF+470k is all over the place or non-existent. A value of 2n2+47k to 100k is good. This network gives a. lot of compression and so you may want to leave it removed at first. 10uF + 470k won't do anything tho...

Re: Diezel VH4- Channel 3 Preamp Idea
Dude, thanks for the reply. I have a Hammond 269EX transformer from my first tube amp I built (the Firefly). I tore that amp apart and ran the Transformer into a Bridge Rectifier last night. It is doing 396vDC before filtering. So post filtering, it should be up around 390-400 Also going to be runni...

Diezel VH4- Channel 3 Preamp Idea
Hello all, I haven't been here in a long while. I have an idea and was wondering if anyone has some input. I got an idea bouncing around in my little mellon... I was to build an All tube Diezel VH4 Channel 3 preamp. I came across a supposed VH4 schematic in the deep dark corner of the web... not sur...

Re: Joyo JF-16 British Sound (also Oxford/American/AC Tone/etc) Effects Loop?)
I haven't been able toClip the D-Seed II yet. I have it runnning Stereo in off a British Sound and an Oxford Sound.

Re: Joyo JF-16 British Sound (also Oxford/American/AC Tone/etc) Effects Loop?)
Thanks Hanky. I will havr tto go through that thread again. My Oxford and British were causing my D-Seed to produce noise, mainly on the lower E/A strings when the level was above 12 O'clock... Interesting to not, I complained to Joyo sales on EBay... the let me keep the DSeed and sent me a DSeed II...

Joyo JF-16 British Sound (also Oxford/American/AC Tone/etc) Effects Loop?)
Hello All, I know there is a lengthy thread on these Sans Amp clones, but I was wondering if I could bounce an Idea off you gurus on Pedal tweaking... I have a Setup running a British Sound into the Joyo D-seed Delay (Mono Version). I am not running an amp and recording direct into my DAW. I have di...

Tom's Line OCTPUS tuning
So I have been listening to Rival Sons way too much lately, and wanted to try out a Polyphonic Octave... Just because. I scoped Ebay and picked up a Tom's Line Engineering OCTPUS... cheap... It came in the original box with original packing, but not manual.. I will say it is an interesting critter.....

Re: Idea: Small Amp with built in effects
I took some pictures as I was building the eyelet board for my current Tonebender based Si fuzz this week. I don't have a lot of time in the evenings and have been spending it working on that, but this weekend, I'll cook up a post about how I build my eyelet boards, which are in the same style as th...

Vox tonebender based octave
SO I am working up a Vox Tonebender based effect running standard 2N4401s and a 2N3904 for Number 3 slot and feeding that into an Octave stage to the back end using a LM386, small transformer and a pair of diodes to rectify to signal... Anyone ever brewed something like this up? I got the Tonebender...

Re: Idea: Small Amp with built in effects
Damn, that is pretty cool... So my Fuzzrite is a success, I am thinking on removing the extra tube in the pre-amp with it... Currently, I am heading off in left field, building a fuzz and trying to add a selectable Octave on the back side... I have the fuzz built, and hop to finish the Octave side t...

Re: Idea: Small Amp with built in effects
Success!
I found out that my C6 was a tad too large... 0.1uf instead of 0.01uf...
It's hell getting old...
Either way, here is the schematic I redrew of the circuit... Q1: 2N3904
Q2: MPS2222

Re: Idea: Small Amp with built in effects
Ha! I found after retracing my connections, I missed the Feedback loop jumper between the Depth and Q1 Collector... :slap: It has that Fuzzroite, Inna-Gadda-Da-Vidda tone alright, but when I run the Depth full up, it gets a Splatter type of fuzz that is not right... I tried the 2N3904 in Q1 and a MP...

Re: Idea: Small Amp with built in effects
Hmmm...
Using a 9 VDC lab power supply, my Q1 collector is at 1.45v and the base is at 0.3v....
Q2 collector is at 0.1v and the base is at 0.4v....
It sounds more like a lightly fuzzy boost than a fuzz pedal....
I'm currently running 2 2N3904s....
