Wampler SLOstortion

I've just finished building this pedal using the schematic from here and a vero layout from tagboard effects forum, its a great high gain sound but a bit lacking in bass in my set up , any ideas how to increase bass response ? ie. which cap values i could adjust ?

Re: Rockett Chicken Soup? [traced]

As far as I am aware the chicken soup is a nobels odr-1 with a small gain mod, you can find a vero layout for here : http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/nobels-odr-1.html i modded mine with a gain switch to have standard odr-1 , chicken soup and odr-1s in 1 pedal. Its a great pedal IMHO :D

Re: Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone Germanium Gold LTD [traced]

I took a quick shot while I was checking voltages There are gutshots of my build on page 7 of this thread. I used Harald's layout, too Kaeisy, your build is awesome , I wasn't brave enough to try and squeeze it into a smaller box. I ended up wirnig my pots too , the pot tabs were lifting the copper ...

Sorry no PCB , I used sabrotone's vero from here:

It has BOM included :thumbsup

Re: Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone Germanium Gold LTD [traced]

I finally got mine finished , after having a few issues, sounds great and happily not excessively noisy. Still have one strange issue , running at 18v from my power supply it pops and cuts out but at 12v it works and sounds great. I've checked all IC and they are all ok with 18v so not sure what to ...

Re: Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone Germanium Gold LTD [traced]

To anyone who has built this . Do you find it noisy ? I've read some mixed reviews regarding its noise level. I'm planning to build using the sabro tone layout . I've already built the rothwelll love squeeze which is very quiet and transparent but thought I might try something with more sustain. Tha...

Re: Switch popping

Thanks guys , I spotted the 150k to vref after posting here and have snipped it off the board an put it on the output to ground on the switch ' V down to 4ma so the pop is barely there. I might try some lower value resisters today

Switch popping

I Know plenty has been posted over the net regarding this but I'm at a loss. I've just finished building JohnK's nobleman layout [ awesome pedal thanks JohnK ] from tagboard effects but I get an annoying pop when switching it on and off. I've tried the 1m pulldown on input and output , no change. I'...

Re: Nobels ODR-S [traced]

****update**** there is a missing cut on the output row , the 200k resistor to ground is shorted and needs a cut. I also experimented with 3904 , 550c and mpsa18 and found the mpsa18 to provide the best gain range . I may also experiment with different clipping diodes to try get a little less compre...

Re: Nobels ODR-S [traced]

I finally got time to build this today , found a couple of small errors in the layout and have corrected them , so now this layout is verified. It sounds great with my tele. There's no noticeable noise and tons of output/gain . I haven't experimented much but there seems to be a decent range on the ...

Re: Nobels ODR-S [traced]

Hi , I've had another go using some stand up resistors/diodes and I managed to shave a couple of rows , it might fit into a 125B , but with 5 pots i don't think I'll try , might just put it into a BB anyway. There's a few less links but more cuts ,I've ordered the parts now just have to wait till th...

Re: Nobels ODR-S [traced]

Hi , thanks for the help guys , I have updated the layout to remove the unnecessary cut and put one in that I missed :slap: and also to connect to two points. A flying lead is not ideal but for now it's fixed . I am working on a smaller layout using standing resistors I'm aiming for about 21 x 21 bu...

Nobels ODR-S [traced]

Hopefully this is the right section ,I've been working on a vero for the nobels odr-s for a bit now and thought I'd post it for anyone who is interested, it's my first big vero so if anyone has any tips on making it smaller or any corrections , feel free. It's 1590bb sized at the moment and not veri...

Just finished this yesterday , awesome pedal . I used matching 2skr170bl and all 3 biased at 4.4v with the 12k resistor and 4.6v with 13k which is where I left it :horsey:

Re: Wampler Velvet Fuzz [traced]

When I built mine , I found the fuzz side to be louder also but I use it only as a boost so it's overall volume is limited by the pedal it goes into.My understanding [ only guessing ] that this volume is part of the way the fuzz is created as the circuit isn't very fuzzy on it's own and it was origi...

Re: paisley drive volume

The 100r resistors are there for filtering. You alter the sound of the pedal a little when you remove them and gain almost no volume as written above already. Looking at the circuit diagram there is a current booster before the output that should have compensated for any volume loss. Make sure the ...

Re: Dumbloid [traced]

last time I looked it was about half the cost of the real one. Hate to think what it would cost to have it sent to Australia. I most likely wouldn't build one even if a circuit came out , I've too many overdrives now but am still curious what it is based on as I have plenty to learn about effects bu...

Cool ,thanks , I've toyed with diodes before but didn't realise it would make this much difference to volume .I'll be keeping it this way now. :applause:
