Re: Diezel VH4 Pedal [Gut shots] [schematic]

A simple way to check what the zener is without removing it. POWER OFF the unit Get a 9V battery, connect battery negative to the anode of the zener, connect the cathode of the zener to the 9V battery positive THROUGH A 1k RESISTOR. Using a multimeter, measure the voltage across the zener I would gu...

Re: Decompression Overdrive - another approach to diode clip

Hi Sam I built this a few weeks ago & our guitarist tried it out. He loves it :). He had the vero prototype unit i built initially (without a box) for a minute or two & said to me "box it up, this is great" I added a tone control on the output (SWTC2) Stupidly wonderful tone contro...

JCM800 recording preamp

a preamp i built to directly record guitar into my Digital Audio Workstation I dont like the free vst plugins, so this was an alternative to micing up a guitar amp You could also use it straight into a power amp I modified our guitarist's little Marshall MG30FX and added a line in 1/4" jack. Th...

Re: Baja Trembulator schematic, board layout and circuit boa [documentation]

Hi Baja Built this one up for our guitarist, its very nice. Thanks for the project. I added the switch across the calibration pot to go from smooth trem to harsh trem. One thing I found, and I want to point it out here in case others have the same problem, is the Vactrol. I used a Siliconix NSL-32SR...

Re: Attenuator [schematic]

The external speaker must be used, so all these resistors are in series with the speaker. Simple resistor voltage divider. The attenuator is not a dummy load box, however, if you plugged a shorting jack into the speaker out 1/4" socket, or just connected the tip switch to 0V (connected TN to S ...

i built a valve pre with the runoff groove "condor" for the cab sim, sounds very nice direct into an audio interface details here https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=22627 clean sounds very nice & when the gain is cranked on the hi gain mode, i got searing smooth ov...

Re: T-Rex SQUEEZER schematics and guts [schematic]

also, as the output is connected to pcb 0V, a simpler design, just using an inductor would be the Bajaman blackstar HT power supply, or the 555 based supply, just be sure that "noisy" power supply 0V lines are connected at one point only with the clean signal 0V for the analague circuitry,...

Re: T-Rex SQUEEZER schematics and guts [schematic]

any standard type of "transformer" ferrite will do Input volts = 15VDC approx when transistor is turned on, as this is not a flyback converter, we are doing a hard switching forward converter, so all we need to do is look at input & output volts to get the turns ratio. 15VDC in, output...

Valve preamp pedal

Here is my small contribution..... A friend with a home studio was not satisfied with the software amp models that he had. While a clean sound was "ok" the digital overdrive in these software models did not really cut it. so i built this valve preamp for him. the circuit is based on variou...
