If your sustain and grit don't work, that's roughly half the pedal. That's indicative of some basic build problems. Only thing I can recommend is get out your multimeter and start checking voltages and continuity.

I have finished this but it doesn't work. I''m going over the circuit with an audio probe and the trouble starts at the first vactrol.
