wampler pinnacle help
i got a pinnacle deluxe that somebody plugged a 12V adapter to it, and the imput resistors are burned, i think one goes to a led and the other one its the gate of Q4, or at least it looks like that the one removed was burned, and looks like going to Q4 gate, i cant identify the value of that one, do...

optical bypass pop
hi all, i have a few popping problems, i got a SHO and an optical compressor that pops like hell normally, then i tried to move to an optical bypass, so i bought some rullywow Detour pcbs, they seems quite simple small and easy to build in a 1590A enclosure, so it was a winner, but when i tried it, ...

Re: flamed wood??
Foto-flame looks like crap in real life. Woods with natural flame, quilt, birdseye etc. have a depth and sheen that changes with the light, just like mother of pearl, granite, etc. It's the deep, pearlescent effect that makes these woods so desirable, not just the grain. Veneers also don't have qui...

Re: flamed wood??
There's nothing wrong with wanting your instrument to look nice, as long as you understand that's what you're paying extra for. The flamed look is a natural property of the wood and there are certain finishes and techniques that bring it out more (make the grain "pop"). There are also som...

Re: flamed wood??
may be not the best place to ask this, but the flamed woods, as flamed arse, or maple, are real natural, or have a process to get that way?? There's a few ways I can think of that guitar builders use to achieve Flamed wood, note that I could be wrong, but anyway, one way is to Bookmatch the wood, a...

You need to get your head around psu numbers. 8) This Picture helped me out heaps when I was learning the basics. Note the current transfer as well as voltage it can catch you out. :blackeye Cheers, Phil this its really useful... i think that the 600V its a choke transformer, but i did not see indu...

Re: i got a OT for cheap
12AX7 is only rated for 300V. People run them way higher but I don't know about 600V and running the plate voltage above spec does cut down their life, doesn't it? I think power tubes are usually run at 350-450V too. Burning your preamp tubes faster than usual is one thing, but I wouldn't want to g...

Re: i got a OT for cheap
is that power tranny 600volt on each side? or is it 300 0 300, if this is the case you can build a fender champ type amp or maybe even a 5e3-(a little low) I used a 300 0 300 on a lightning build (el84's) a bit on the hotside, but i used a few zeners to keep the B+ to a manageable level......lots o...

Re: a tube box on 9V
I agree Darkrain, 9V would mean that the cathodes of the valve aren't able to reach their full electron-emission capabilities, also, I seem to remember reading somewhere that if you run a valve at a lower heater voltage, it can lead to something called "Cathode Poisoning", incidentaly, I ...

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender Mark II Professional [schematic]
Hehee I know with my mkII's I have one with OC75s and the other has OC84s - the 84s are so forgiving and those bias up great with no issues, but for my OC75s I had to use a trimmer on Q2c to get the voltages right with the 8.2k resistor on Q3c and swapping them around like EW says. Was a pain to ge...
