Re: Wattson EFY-6 Fuzz [traced]

hey flood, i hope all is bon in bombay. am in the middle of a superfuzz modding phase. reworking aspects of my 2011 clone as a result of new learning to max its potential. reviewing every possibility. i'd be very interested to check out the schematic for the chemical burn (you mentioned it might be...

Re: Baron Samedi - An expanded Jordan Bosstone

Happy New Year to everybody - here is an updated schematic with a couple of corrections - the one above is missing the 22k resistor on T1 collector. This current version is verified, as is the PCB layout/toner transfer layout in the files: http://www.animalfactoryamps.com/#!baron-samedi/c172c All th...

Re: Univox Supper Fuzz MOD (GGG)

Hi, sorry for the very very late reply - I haven't been watching this thread. will subscribe to it. regarding R23 - I haven't exactly done this mod. Chemical Burn uses a 5kB knob to go between a pair of Germanium and silicon diodes. the volume levels go up in the middle of the travel. I can't commen...

Re: Univox Supper Fuzz MOD (GGG)

In my product Chemical Burn, I use the following values: R28 - 820k R29 - 82k R30 - 15k R31 - 1.5k Lowering R31 will increase gain and also clipping/saturation in the final stage. Another way to increase gain, although I haven't tried it myself, would be possibly by using a 10uF-22uF cap across R31....

Re: Vertex NOS Axis Wah - De-gooped [traced]

Honestly, I think the whole thing is ****ing ridiculous. On both sides. TGP is acting like a president took their hard-earned tax money and spent it on... oh wait. :slap: Maybe I just don't relate to it as strongly, given where I live; it comes across as a first-world problem of the most ridiculous ...

Re: Skreddy - P19 [traced]

Hi Flood, Sounds like you need to turn your transistors around. Good call - I wish I'd checked your message before I drove myself crazy, desoldering stuff and breathing in rosin fumes till I had a strange hallucination of BC550s jive-dancing with MPSA13s and spinning around to show me their pin ori...

Re: Skreddy - P19 [traced]

Fixed this about a week ago but didn't get around to posting - yes, my idiocy made itself apparent - i simply renamed the transistors in my old layout. They were in backwards. Flipped them and 'pon my word, this thing is beautiful. I'm going to document the final values I've used in my circuit, make...

Re: Skreddy - P19 [traced]

Thanks Marc. Something's up with my build, or my testing setup or both - the pedal just doesn't sound right on it's own, but sounds perfect when the input is hit hard with an overdrive. i'm guessing i've made a mistake in the first stage or there's a solder bridge, or a weak tranny (doubtful, all te...

Re: Skreddy - P19 [traced]

The resistors were ok - I dun goof'd with the resistor going from the sustain knob into the 2nd gain stage though. Used 82k instead of 8k2. Interesting possibility for a future build - use a very small resistor, maybe 10E, on the first and second gain stages and a 100k "Less" knob to cut d...

Re: Skreddy - P19 [traced]

Try using a 50k pot for the tone control instead of 100k. Less separation between high and low, so the middle ground is fuller. Thanks Marc, I did end up using a 50kB pot in the final build. I think I've screwed up somewhere else because the circuit works great as a very mild overdrive/boost, there...

Re: Skreddy - P19 [traced]

Hi there from Bombay, India. First off, kudos to Marc/Skreddy for being as down to earth and open as he is. About a month ago, I announced a little giveaway of a one-off etched pedal for the first two people to give to this fantastic organization on a donations-matched day: http://www.kranti-india.o...

Re: Wattson EFY-6 Fuzz [traced]

minor updates... interesting, interesting. turns out that the superfuzz circuit scopes beautifully with a sine wave input. i get clear octaving waveforms (that i think i will capture and post here for all to behold in the future). saw something brilliant between two clones, identical except for the ...

Re: Wattson EFY-6 Fuzz [traced]

if you build the superfuzz with the "octave/balance trim" on the 22k or 15k resistors going to ground from the bases of the transistors, the trick to get the best oscillation, is to unbias the transistors with the trim! you know, i have done unbiasing on my pedals while setting the octave...

Re: Wattson EFY-6 Fuzz [traced]

I've implemented in one of my superfuzz clones the octave pot mod by wattson, and while trying I used a 50k log pot. Since the pot is a log one, up to 3/4 of the pot open you reach about 10k resistance, but if you go up more, in the last 1/4 of the pot, the pedal starts to self-oscillate! Which for...

Baron Samedi - An expanded Jordan Bosstone

Hey there everybody, and greetings from the alleged "winter" of Bombay, India. The heat got to my head recently, so while I was prototyping some variations around the jordan bosstone circuit for a future pedal I'm coming up with, I salvaged the vero for reuse in an etched enclosure of mine...

Re: Wattson EFY-6 Fuzz [traced]

Thanks for this! I'm working on my own superfuzz clone, and I'm pretty happy so far using a mix of BC108B and 2N3904, all in the hfe range of 190-200. I'm planning to try some BC107As or 2N2222As to see if the sound changes significantly. Does the sound get less harsh when the octave is turned down...

back after a long time with no great update: did something fantastically stupid. i didn't notice that the pot rear protrudes way out, so actually fitting an IC in the socket is impossible. after ripping up half the circuit, i've decided to go back to square one and redo the layout with a TLC2264 in ...

looks awesome baja, I might just give this a spin. wondering if I should try my buffer-before-blend concept with this design... it worked fantabulously with the Music man design.
