Re: Zvex inventobox [traced]
I think the mechanical aspect of this type of project is the most difficult thing. What do you do when you're switching a module with 5 knobs for one with 1 knob? Just leave holes in the case? What's Zvex doing for this? Or just leave a bunch of "dead" knobs sitting there? How are you sup...

Re: Zvex inventobox [traced]
I'm working with a fellow FSB'r on an early draft specification for a truly open-source device. We are looking to add a 2 or 3 more minds/sets of eyes to this endeavor. If you are interested in participating in this design effort, please give me a holler via PM.

Re: Zvex inventobox [traced]
There is really nothing stopping one from designing a simple modular enclosure with in/out jacks, LED, battery + dc jack and a 3PDT. Holes in the top for 4 or 5 pots or switches. Then a standardized board that used a card-edge connector to connect the PCB to the box. All open source. Designed by DIY...

Got one of these for xmas, plus the matching night train cab. I'm loving it, although the stock Sovtek tubes are going to be swapped out tonight. here' the schemo for anyone interested: http://www.prowessamplifiers.com/schematics/images/Vox%20NT15.pdf Here's mine: http://www.beavisaudio.com/img09/Pa...

Re: digitally controlling pots with arduino
Arduino sequencers are a load of fun. As for programming, the language is simple and approachable, nothing like C or assembler. I built a simple synth/sequencer based on the arduino with just a few parts: http://www.beavisaudio.com/projects/digital/ArduinoPunkConsole/APC_Finished3.jpg check out at: ...

Re: Beavis Board
Better yet, how bout the same concept but the pots and their connectors have a rigid connection. Imagine the pots like Legos that you just pop in and pop out. OOH BABY... http://bestmessageboardever.com/style_images/1/folder_post_icons/icon76.gif the problem with pcb mounted pots is that they can s...

Re: Beavis Board
Curious to the folks that put mounts for pots on their DIY testboards. Are they temporary slots that you're just dropping a pot into for each mockup, or are you leaving the pots on the test board permanently? My thought is to make something similar, but have a box with say 10K, 50K, 100K, 250K, 500...

Re: Beavis Board
It is very exciting to see folks make their own beavis boards. It is not a brand new concept, I just made it easier to use. Regarding the cost, it is pretty expensive to make in terms of labor, parts ordering, inventory, etc. My brother in law builds each one and the revenue is enough to keep him ou...

Re: Tonefactor - Ultralord / Dirty Sanchez
Its cool, I drew mine direct form my tonefactor pedal, the PCB layout i posted is the production layout not mine, i just copied it but since i done a schem I been meaning to make a new layout of it. I just noticed a mistake in your schem I missed before, C4 should be 1nF not 10nF. Fixed, thx for th...

Re: Tonefactor - Ultralord / Dirty Sanchez
Dan did you check you UL schematic against mine in this thread: https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=386&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=ultra+lord&start=20 Because andy verified it. EDIT: I checked it and its the same as mine so its verified. Mine has a couple of pots wi...

Re: Tonefactor - Ultralord / Dirty Sanchez
I've tried to do a bit of spelunking here, especially in light of Andy's departure from the business. All I've been able to find are patched together schematics and layouts. From those I've distilled the following two schematics. http://www.beavisaudio.com/Schemas/DirtySanchez.gif http://www.beavisa...

Got a taker. The pedal will soon be flying its way across the ocean for a right proper demystification.

I have one that sounds farty and is somehow not working correctly.
I would happily donate it to whoever would be interested in reversing it.
