Re: Mutron - Bi Phase [schematic]
This is incredible - I've watched this show a couple of times, and it's usually "Grandma's terrible old painting (that has nostalgic value) has a rip in it" or "Help repair my late father's broken old guitar", and then, boom! ACTUAL Mad Professor strolls in with ACTUAL Lee "...

Re: Mend-It Mark's cap discharger [schematic]
You can simply use any DMM with low-z function for such purpose. Yeah, or even just a resistor i guess - Just thought people might get a kick out of his (quite clever-looking) design and build. He really knows his stuff. In a tape deck repair he actually rewound the motor. There is not much seems t...

Mend-It Mark's cap discharger [schematic]
A while ago, the you-tube algorithm started feeding me videos from Mend-It Mark, a general electronics repair guy of the archetype that I thought had all but disappeared years ago, even though he looks a bit younger than me. I got quite into watching the videos of his repairs when they pop up in my ...

Preamp/OD/fx and bluetooth transmitter?
I've got a tiny usb-rechargable bluetooth boombox with an aux line-in socket and it sounds pretty good with a guitar plugged in. miniboom.JPG I want to try to make a smallish box i can plug my guitar into that will send the (boosted, slightly overdriven and with a level-out pot) guitar signal via bl...

Re: JHS - Bender [traced]
I like Josh's attitude towards things. The JHS website says it's a 1973 MKIII Tonebender the video of the whole range has him saying he spent ages trying and tinkering to get the Ge sound out of Si and after endless testing, it turns out that these two decades old schems had it exactly right back t...

Re: JHS - Bender [traced]
I was interested in the way that he got "germanium sound from silicon transistors" :hmmm: should the alternative pot wiring be used? I suspect "mictester's" version should be used, since otherwise the gain pot setting slightly affects the bias. Is it correct that the switch bypa...

Re: 2CH Mixer audio Op amp voltage sum + buffer
a non-inverting buffer would ordinarily have a large value resistor (1M / 470k) to a 1/2 supply bias voltage. I guess the low resistance (10k|| 10k) of the voltage divider might make a difference here

Re: 2CH Mixer audio Op amp voltage sum + buffer
The first image shows the power supply and it is +9v and ground/0v like off a battery. The non-inverting input needs a reference of half supply, so around 4.5v which is supplied by that divider. However, in the second picture, no supply is shown: We have to assume, since the non-inverting inputs her...

Thanks for the input, everyone. After some slapstick soldering and a fubar vero, i ended up doing some sort of opamp-based design, works fine.

Re: Dual output buffer/splitter design
Yeah, radio frequencies. This came up coincidentally on DIYSB a couple of hours ago. Initial thread on the Cornish buffer with explanations: https://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=124166.20 Isn't that page of discussion focused on the 1n B-E cap? I was referencing the 4u7 between em...

Re: Dual output buffer/splitter design
OK, I knocked this up based on the cornish buffer (i know you've done a pcb for it). I was unsure about biasing both transistors off the same single (120k) resistor without changing the value, but just went with it anyway. I have also omitted the 4u7 cap from emitter to vref, but I've not seen this ...

Re: Dual output buffer/splitter design
Two FETs is going to need roughly the same number of resistors and caps, but i think will make for a smaller/simpler vero, so i'm now looking at doing this: Dual FET buffer.bmp I've based it on the split 'n' blend circuit that IvIark did a vero for here - http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2012/02/...

Dual output buffer/splitter design
I am going to build a little splitter box to send two copies of the same mono signal chain to sample into the left, right or both channels of a stereo chain consisting of BOSS DD7-> zoom CDR-70 -> DITTO X2. Re: J. Rockett Tim Pierce signature OD (traced)
How high is the gain set in your video? Does this noise occur only at higher gain or at all settings? One issue could be the lack of limiting resistor before the tone cap: You'll see the Timmy has a 1k5 (?) resistor between the tone pot and the tone cap-to-ground. This prevents the first opamp havin...

.......distortion level. It's either on or off. However, you can control this by putting variable resistors between C3 and ground and C5/R13 and ground. According to my LTSpice models, about 1K gets you more of a crunchy overdrive. Let us know how your breadboard experiments go! That's what i meant...

So none of these actually match the Electra Distortion schematic that is commonly available - interesting... Has anyone actually seen a version of the Power Overdrive with the additional diodes or a Tube Sound matching the Distortion schem that we've all seen? :? Mystery solved: https://www.diystom...
