Re: Tremolo issues, loud pop in a buffered pedal

I found a solution, sort of. The problem is definitely with these p channel jfets Q1 & Q2. One of them is bad, giving ton of hiss, sometimes static and possibly the pop. These work as electronic switches here. Based on the cd4049ub, either Q1 receives ~8V at its gate terminal while Q2 receives 0...

Re: Visual Sound Garagetone Tremolo

Z101 & Z102 are zeners, two legged smd form. I'll post the pic of the pcb front and back. (Ignore the brown wire on the tl072 IC1, its there to make up for a trace i accidentally cut while trying to cut through the chip legs while removing it  ) The back of the pcb isnt all that useful cau...

The non inverting pins (3 & 5) of IC102 (LF353) are left open like that? Thanks for the trace by the way, looks interesting.... No, thats my mistake  LF353 Pin 3 connects to OPA2137 Pin 7 LF353 Pin 5 connects to LF353 Pin 1 OPA2137 Pin 5 connects to OPA2137 Pin 2 Those paths are missing i...

Tremolo issues, loud pop in a buffered pedal

20221113_172725.jpg I have narrowed down the issue to the two P-Channel Jfets Q1 & Q2. These are PMBFJ175. These serve as a switch to provide quiet pop free switching but mine has developed a huge pop when switching. Plus there is an issue of the gain being higher than normal when the effect is...

Visual Sound Garagetone Tremolo

20221113_172725.jpg Heres a trace drawing I made of this pedals layout. I'm not adept at drawing the layout in the electronic format like the way schematics are available here but this is the full trace of the pedal with values of the components. The smd caps were measured in circuit. There are two...

Re: My VS Open Road has developed static problems

Thanks mauman. I can get a BC807 and MMBT3906 locally online, looks like generic chinese import ones. Specs on these are in the screenshots ive attached. Switching freq is higher on the MMBT3906, i suppose its faster. I think either should be able to handle the job :hmmm: Screenshot_20220927-234934....

Re: My VS Open Road has developed static problems

I found the problem. Its a pnp transistor that is found near the dc power entry section, looks like its used for switching between battery and adapter supply. Now I cant read what is printed on it because the markings are damaged or nearly invisible due to the brown glue that was used on the wires n...

Re: My VS Open Road has developed static problems

Ive been tracing the circuit somewhat. It doesnt have the millenium bypass in there, its something else. Anyways, still hunting for the gremlins in there.

Re: My VS Open Road has developed static problems

Visual Sound uses the Millenium Bypass 2 Plus using the mosfet transistors IC. http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/Mill2extn/mil2plus.htm I tried replacing the sockets (dc or 1/4" input) but it didnt solve the problem. My guess is the bypass section is causing the issue. There too many smd co...

My VS Open Road has developed static problems

I have had a similar problem develop on their garagetone Tremolo pedal. This time its the open road pedal(clone of nobels odr1). Both pedals are supposed to disconnect the battery when the input jack is unplugged. Both of them start to generate lot of hiss and some sputtering/pops/static when I powe...

Re: Joyo JF-16 British Sound (also Oxford/American/AC Tone/etc) Effects Loop?)

Oops, sorry, I meant fx loop needs to be after the level control. And also after the sansamp portion of the circuitry, kinda like a studio setting where in the effects are added after the mic. If the Dseed II isn't clipping then that's a good sign that they fixed the issue with the Dseed I. You can ...

Re: Joyo JF-16 British Sound (also Oxford/American/AC Tone/etc) Effects Loop?)

The fx loop should be before the level control somewhere. Thats how it is on the tech21 deluxe pedals atleast.

Does the Dseed II also give clipping issues?

Re: Joyo JF-16 British Sound (also Oxford/American/AC Tone/etc) Effects Loop?)

I had asked about the fx loop idea in the joyo actone thread. Apparently it puts the EQ controls after the loop, which is far from ideal with these pedals. Not sure how tech21 implemented it in the deluxe variants. Also the joyo versions dont have a lot of output when compared to the original tech21...

Re: Joyo schematics updates and component list. [schematic]

Gentlemen. Last week arrive in in my hands a Joyo California sound... For sure I reverse it... I note there are some componentes that are not present on the other versions that are mounted on this one, like the caps and the resistor on the filter after the CabSim before the Level pot. I also change...

Re: Joyo - JF-13 AC Tone [schematic]

Revisiting these pedals once again, here's something I noticed. In the original Tech21 pedals, the V1 units, R100 to R106 were laser cut. In the joyo clones, R100(R14), R103(R18) & R104(R19) are empty while the rest are present & used. I tried removing them to see the results & what I go...

Re: Behringer SF300 mods

It's been awhile since I had done the mods. If I remember correctly the Lows & Highs changed with the mods, the amount of gain changed or not I can't remember, it made it sound more modern. I can't remember more now because I don't use this pedal frequently. It was a single 1n5 cap(there's only ...

Re: Joyo - JF-13 AC Tone [schematic]

I was wondering about the addition of FX loop to the pedal, so that the pedals in the loop are placed after the preamp section rather than just placing them after the cab sim(as in after the entire pedal without a loop built in). Looks like the cab sim bypass mod would be the place to start for the ...

Re: Joyo - JF-13 AC Tone [schematic]

^ An easier way for the cab sim bypass mod that doesn't involve removing R28 or any smd component is to cut the trace between C18 & R28. After that connect wires from the points shown in the image I attached. Note: This doesn't work with the California Sound, I've explained it above in a few pos...

Re: Joyo - JF-13 AC Tone [schematic]

Yes, I did the exact same mod on all four of the models. The only significant difference is the California model, the you don't remove that R28 "0 resistor" from the board. On that model it's actually a 2.2k ohm resistor and it does something important. The value of the cap, I used 3.9nF,...
