Re: Boss - HM-2 Heavy Metal [schematic]

Just comparing this to the HM-3 and wondering... am I tired and/or blind, or is the only real difference a capacitor in the clipping stage??!

Can anyone reupload the schematic since photobucket ruined it with a watermark and blur?

Re: Cabinet Merger wire gauge important or not?

Thanks lol. From what I read, at low distances it really matters less and less but there were no specifics I could find except on longer distances. I'm going to be using 22gauge. Thanks! I'm sure it'll work now.

Cabinet Merger wire gauge important or not?

Hey I'm making someone a cabinet merger and was working with some really heavy gauge wire, but its kind of a pain in such a tiny box with small jacks. Would it be OK for me to just use small gauge wire for such a short distance or would that limit the wattage he could use?

Just thought I'd revive this. Gutshots anyone? I might be able to get some from a friend

Re: DOD - FX30 Noise Gate [schematic]

Why does the schematic call for CD4007 (dual complimentary pair + inverter) and the layout by Andy calls for merely a 1n4007? I just tried building it by request using the CD4007 following the FX30 schematic 100%. The layout and the schematic are different. For example: Q1, the 2n5089, in the schema...

Re: Royal Beaver

I musta been stoned. The gain should probable be the emitter, whereas bias is at base and v+ at collector.

It's almost like a make your own voltage divider xDxD
but it takes a little more to really tune a muff

Re: Royal Beaver

That's exactly what it is. It only changes the resistor values. http://www.kitrae.net/music/big_muff_guts.html#Circuit IMO, you only really need one resistor on knob per stage. More important to get the tone of the various eras, are the clipping caps c6 and c7, the input cap and certain couplings ca...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2

Probably is, but it's hard to know what exactly we're looking at, let alone exact modifications made, without delving further. I vote we do it! We have a pledge of $100, earlier in the thread there was at least $20 but that was years ago so lets forget it, and also Ivlark and the bois at tagboardeff...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2

Does anyone want to work on setting up a new tracers fund..?
In Lou Reeds memory?
I love the NG Fuzz sound he gets on Like A Possum. Its insane and kind of unique yet something that's always been there, ay?

Board mount switches?

Does anyone know where i can get Boardmount switches, preferred with two poles? I want to use board mount switches that height match my board mount pots. The typical kind with two support lugs on the sides , little green plastic ones. My standard 2p4t switches do not line up with them, too tall

Re: Anything wrong with this schematic?

Thanks again. If anyone wants a reference -

You can set a 2n5088s collector resistance down to about 1K and it should turn on. It will get pretty fucking quiet and "clean" with a high noise floor but it will work.

However I definitely want the series of course xD

Re: Anything wrong with this schematic?

Woops. You're right. Dang I was hoping these were the boards... I oughta hit myself for that.

How much resistance do you think it takes to turn a 2n5088 on? I guess I should get to breadboarding and figure out lol

Anything wrong with this schematic?

It should be obvious what it's supposed to be xD I have PCBs of this schem and have having trouble getting it running, I suspect I know why (some problems with my switches) but before Igo and do a whole 'nother board (a wire pad broke off lol), I wanted to get some opinions that none of my mods brok...

Can I fix this?

I'm making a modded big muff via custom made PCB. I just noticed that one of of trannies isn't grounded at the emitter. I have a 5k pot wired as variable resistor with the middle and third leg connected. Can I fix the lack of grounding by just connecting a ground to the third or middle leg? Or do I ...
