Re: Xotic Soul Driven - gut shot [traced]

There are some (at least partial) gut shots on these pages: https://www.digimart.net/magazine/article/2016120902318.html https://www.ikebe-gakki.com/ec/pro/disp/1/515702 http://benimarulabo.com/xotic-soul-driven-ah-allen-hinds/ SMD transistors say "2CW" which is BC849C (or CW). I can't mak...

Re: Leaving pedals on - destructive?

If I understand the way most pedals are wired, using an external power supply (not a battery) means the pedal is powered up all the time, even without a guitar cord plugged into the input. The only thing the switch does is route signal thru the pedal circuit or not (and turn on the LED). Battery is ...

Wonder where you heard that. According to the Friedman web site, it's built in the USA.

Re: Bearfoot - Sparkling Yellow Overdrive 2 (SYOD 2) [traced]

Has anyone nailed down the differences between the SYOD 1 and 2? (or the switched components in the 3?)

Thanks,
Michael

Can anyone explain why the pedal started working when I turned the guitar down?

Re: CJOD-modded BOSS SD-1 crackles with very low signal pass

OK, I figured it out. The trigger was I accidentally discovered that if I turned the guitar volume pot down just a little, it started working. Then I noticed scratchiness when I turned the guitar volume, which sounded like DC on the pot. Voila! Yes, there was DC on the pot. Turned out that C1 on the...

Re: Zener design question

Sorry, that was a typo - should've been 12.1V. I'd correct the original post but that would make your reply seem bizarre. I'm certain that my meter is fine, though probably not to the standard of your desk meter. As to the zener for polarity question - that is part of what I was asking. More than th...

Zener design question

I'm questioning the value of using a zener as the polarity insurance diode in a pedal, as is done with any design I've seen that has the zener as the way to "regulate" the voltage to X volts (esp. with charge pumps). I see this with the cathode on the power input and the anode to ground. T...

CJOD-modded BOSS SD-1 crackles with very low signal passing

I did this analogguru mod to my unused SD-1: (https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3341#p24066) 1.) Remove R5 - R9, C2 - C6, D4 - D6, IC 1 2.) place a jumper wire instead of D5 3.) assemble a socket for IC1 4.) assemble R5 = 10k, R6 = 1k, R7 = 1k, R8 = 220 Ohm, R9 = 1k 5.) assembl...
