Re: Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive [traced]

Build a Baby Pink Booster and you're all set. Hi there, Oh actually the BJF design Sweet Honey dlx does not hold a separate boost circuit but it instead holds a number of controls for parameters within the basic circuit and so you can with the dlx version control bass middle and treble but really i...

Re: Mad Professor 1

Hi there, I can say this, that if you read the product text it says the circuit has two overdrive stages. MP was not keen on my designing a circuit like this from ground up….though I might have preferred to, but they preferred I’d use building blocks from proven designs I had made. The circuit uses ...

Re: Origin of the Ibanez TS-808 Tubescreamer?

Hi there, Yes as I said an interesting side story and it could really spur a few thoughts As I said it was a heavy sales argument that these were made by the former designer of BOSS… At the time you could get a way with somethings at Frankfurt which you couldn’t pull off today… It is also so that if...

Re: Origin of the Ibanez TS-808 Tubescreamer?

Hi, Yes Dirk, you are most right, single pole switching was the thing of the day then. So yes these Ibanez/Maxon definitely had the single pole switching.I guess it slipped my mind since I changed the switching to true bypass on the OD II I mentioned above and I actually had that unit in for service...

Re: Origin of the Ibanez TS-808 Tubescreamer?

Hi there, As i recall Ibanez/Maxon had in the mid 70’s an orange pedal called Overdrive, while that was basically a Big Muff, and then a green pedal called Overdrive II that was version of MXR Distortion + albeit the OD II had after the distortion a boost cut Treble control the type you’d see in gra...

Re: Mad Professor Sweet Honey Overdrive [gutshots] [traced]

I am wondering if C1 is really only 4n7, simply because the BJF - Honey Bee uses a 47n in this position. analogguru HI there, Yes it does and the reason is this while devoloping this model for MP and in a form that they actually could make at any scale there just happened to come to my workshop a g...

Re: Bsiab Transistors

What about BF245C? Hi there, Try BF245A which is fairly close to 2N5457 The suffix on this type and other European J Fets gives the IDSS range and divides that into groups where A has the lowest IDSS and D highest. At your service BJ BJF Electronics Sweden I can choose from the following options: B...

Re: BJFE - Emerald Green Distortion Machine [traced]

Hi There, Oh that schematic doesn't flow well at all. Really it's a straight forward design and as I wrote several years ago that if you'd take a BJF EGDM apart you would find three transistors Indeed BJF version is all silicon while when I was making this for Bearfoot and seeing they had 2N1308's i...

Re: Mad Professor - Royal Blue Overdrive

Hi there,

Actually I was wondering about the correct spelling of blah for the press release of my latest Fuzz:
It sounds like blah and behaves like blah, when you blah it. :hmmm:

Oh I'd be sure someone will do the honours with perfboard :thumbsup

Have fun

Re: Mad Professor - Amber Drive [traced]

Hi there, Transistor should be faced according to data sheet and gate should rest at 0V (because there should be no current flowing through or if there is the transistor converts to a diode.) Your measurement suggests that the transistor either is shorted or drawing too much current as in IDSS or UP...

Re: Mad Professor - Royal Blue Overdrive

Hi There James, 1) if you wish- actually using limiting diodes in the feedback loop is much older than that ;) 2) yes and that one is to limit the HiFi treble-sadly at my age or from rocking too hard in my leathers as it says on the internetz I no longer hear these super sonic frequencies but I know...

Re: Mad Professor - Electric Blue Chorus

I'd guess to see how you implemented the compander with PT2399. That is the thing that i haven't seen done too many times. +m Hi there, Oh how to implement an NE570 would be fairly standard ( while there are tricks one can use it’d be a bit beyond for the intended use). That is too say there’s noth...

Re: Mad Professor Simble [traced]

Hi There, Indeed this is a a Lassi Ukkonen design and in that it is a Simble and not really a Mad Professor pedal. I'd say I know nothing of this pedal other than I have played one- Simble.com would not share the schematic with the designer of MP Amplifications So this is a major non understanding i...
