Re: EQD - Disaster Transport JR [traced]

I'm thinking in build this one into a small veroboard, and add before some Echoplex Preamp.
Is this one more "lo-fi" compared to Deep Blue, or Wampler Faux?

Re: Way Huge Red Llama 25th Anniversary with Hi Cut

Built it on proto-board today. Nice, sounds almost the same compared with the classic one. R5+R6 (2M) adds a bit more of gain, but cut a bit of lows. C1 is EXTREMELY NECESSARY after R1 (at least on my test rig) to aboid motorboat or squealing when gain is at max. R8, C1 and VR1 makes almost not diff...

Re: Roger Mayer - Octavia [schematic]

Found this little same pcb (from Tonepad) out there. Finished it, and sounding. http://tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=120 A bit gated, to be honest. Any hint or thread where found some voltages? As I know, the important here are Q1 to Q3. My readings, V in 9.3: Q1 E=4.4V B=3.0V C=3.0v Q2 E=2.1V B=2.9V C...

Re: Top Tone - Light Drive [traced]

Found this great and usefull tracing of the SS-3 by Aion: https://aionfx.com/news/tracing-journal-cornish-ss-3-soft-sustain/ I've combined both versions: https://i.postimg.cc/VkXwZ5Kq/SS2-a-3.png Verdict: Now this overdrive sounds AMAZING. Not fizzy and saturated on highs: gain clarity on bass and m...

Re: Top Tone - Light Drive [traced]

A few years later: which is the most accurate SS-2 schematic? Thanks in advance :-) I built the GuitarPCB version and it sounds good to me. Didn't sound f@#)&d up, sounded about right from the first play. Thanks! I'll check that schematic I've used the effectslayouts.blogspot layout. Sounds rea...

Re: Throbak strangmaster [traced]

For sure, it seems that they use 2n2222: maybe due the low hfe (like the Ge's one's).
For reference, take a look to the Catalinbread Naga Viper; Rangemaster NPN version, some add's and use a 2N2222 transistor.

Yep... I guess 200 to 400 hfe are in the right values.

Or the MPS3904 (almost the same as 2N3904), that I've read comes in the original.

Any confirmation about Q2 and Q3?
I've read that they're MPSA3904's there

Re: Lovepedal Jubilee

And I'll add another question: which is the 370p cap function? The LM386 circuit has an high gain, and it is therefore even more important to suppress radio frequencies. The 370p capacitor forms together with internal resistance of the guitar circuit a low pass filter to get that done. Thanks Manfr...

Re: Lovepedal Jubilee

Love this one! Like the Purple Plexi. More punch and bass, and more controllable gain (due the input instead the irregular pot to ground). Question: is not redundant the B50K + 4k7 resistor (=~5k)??? I've ommited the 4k7 and place there a b5k pot. And I'll add another question: which is the 370p ca...
