Re: The truth about Victory amps...

Andertons big secret? The title of the video is clickbait, and I feel sorry for the guy that spent his time stalking Lee Anderton. OK, so maybe he wasn't all that up front about some things. But if that's the worst he's done, I can live with that. I get why some people will be annoyed, but really? I...

Re: Tranis for Cornic Fuzz

I've built a few of these and tried germanium for Q4/Q5 in one. I prefer silicon in this circuit, and as a reference, I'm a big fan of germanium fuzz. That's the first time I've seen the BC550 mentioned - I've been using BC549C with good results. Almost any NPN silicon transistor with a reasonable a...

Re: JHS/EHX Lizard Queen

Totally irrelevant: less than 1% of guitarists who might buy this will care that it's two early 2000's bare bones DIY circuits mashed together as part of some YouTube content josh put together to promote his brand rather than anything to do with EHX's actual 70's fuzz pedal heritage I think you're ...

Re: JHS/EHX Lizard Queen

Looks like a Bazz Fuss into a modified Pushme Pullyou with a 100k pot in place of the octave switch in the schematic below. Cool idea. No idea what transistor/diode pair is in the first stage or the values of the electrolytics, but I'll be breadboarding whenever I get a chance. https://home-wrecker...

Re: Analog Sun - No Output (Noob making progress) [SOLVED]

I think I have one of the major issues figured out. Originally I thought the configuration of the dials was exactly the same as the Analogman Sunface. It is not, the volume is in the middle. I put the knobs in the wrong place. <hand to forehead/> Sometimes you just have to laugh rather than cry. Th...

Re: Analog Sun - No Output (Noob making progress) [SOLVED]

Hey there - check your measurements on the bias & sundial (and the board in that area). They should not be the same, as they're connected in series. Whatever's going on there, very little voltage is getting through. The fuzz face "ideal" is -4.5v on the collector of Q2. Your's isn't ev...

Re: The Beatles Pedal

Check the schematic that grrunge posted on the previous page. The 100ohm resistor forms part of the standard power filtering and protection system, along with the 1N400X diode, ceramic (100n?) & electrolytic capacitor (probably 100u at a guess)

Re: Foxx Tone Machine Octave issues.

I've had different experience, 150-250 hfe is best, octave works here regardless of pickup and tone control settings, down to about the 7th fret. I've used 2n3904, 2n3565 and 2n5172. I prefered the 1st two and they sound about the same, 2n5172 seems not to bias correctly with the original values. I...

Just built a Foxx Tone Machine, and am having issues with the octave up being too harsh. It's basically useless other than single note playing
I'd say that sounds about normal - to my ears, it's only useful around / above the twelfth with the tone rolled down playing single notes.

No, I don't have a vero layout of this, maybe you can be the one to make it then!
I was looking at this on the weekend - I’ll have a layout done in the next couple of days. Looks like an interesting project. Thanks Dylan

Mu-Tron Bi-Phase Oscillators - why are they so different?

Hello Just trying to get my head around why the two LFOs in a Mu-Tron Bi-Phase are so different - they both put out square and sine waves.... it has been mentioned on the other forum that one is voltage controlled. I’m still wondering what the purpose of this is. Thoughts / help please? Why? Because...

Re: artificial leaking

The diode on Q3 of a tone bender helps bias the transistor and improves temperature related changes to bias.

You can create artificial leakage using resistors.

Re: Sola Sound Tonebender MK I [schematic]

Use this method to work out how and leakage of your transistors.

http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/201 ... r.html?m=1

Then add resistance across the base and collector until the leakage reading is in the correct range. Check hfe during the process.

I just skimmed through that layout (which is not mine by the way ;-) ) and I couldn't see any errors.
