the YD and MH are pretty close. I havent seen gutshots of the MHII yet.
The MHII A and B sides are the same. On the YD they restricted the gain of the A side to give the impression of an overdrive/distortion combo.
The YD is a nice RAt substitute for under a $100 used

Re: T-Rex Yellow Drive (Gutshots)
The Yellow Drive is based on the Mudhoney which is basically a Rat. The A side has 47R/4.7uf and a 560R/4.7uf legs in the FB loop which gives rolloffs at 720hz and 60hz respectively. The A drive pot is 4.7K audio. The B side has 47R/3.3uf and a 560R/4.7uf legs in the FB loop which gives rolloffs at ...

Re: MXR 143 (guts) [schematic]
Not two versions , two different units with different construction. Both are CA3280 chips. I have not compared the two part by part to see if there were any differences. I dont have time to redraw right now so... https://i1158.photobucket.com/albums/p616/jplaudio/mxr143schem-page-001.jpg I wont leav...

Re: MXR 143 (guts) [schematic]
I have the factory schematic and layout that I can link here as long as the mods are ok with it. My intent was to redraw the schem and post to avoid IP issues. I have not used either one yet so I cant give you a review. Here is one: http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/mxrlimiter.shtml Heres the track sid...

Re: Mod to reduce filament hum
I did not say "perfect"
I said better
So what ratio of resistance would result in minimum hum? other than something selected by pure chance
and in the example of the "humdinger" at what setting of the pot would the hum be minimized?

Re: 2 8ohm speakers Plus 2 16ohm speakers and one fender dev
Tube/Valve Amplifiers are more finicky when it comes to connecting speakers, for a proper impedance match, you MUST make sure that the speakers present the correct impedance load to the amplifier, otherwise you will do one of these things to the Amplifier: 1, You will cook the Output Transformer......

Re: Mod to reduce filament hum
I would like some input from an experienced engineer or amp tech who is familiar with this issue: For amps with a 6.3vac secondary filament winding with no center tap, I know it's a common mod to help alleviate hum to route this wiring to the tube heaters and to the pilot light where a voltage divi...

little late but... anyway
DII mods
C2= .02
R16=150k
R14=3k3 (if your unit has a 1.5k fitted)
R21= try raising this value for more output. Too high and you will get feedback from coupling

Re: Death By Audio - Harmonic Transformer - Guts [traced]
I think they should use bigger switches...plenty of room Connecting the Anode of a Led to Negative, and the Cathode to positive will result in the Led not emitting any light, since the Led will be reverse-biased,Leds are a special type of Diode which emit light when forward-biased,and,like small signa...

Re: How to place a variable load on your guitar pickups?
Here are some ideas to work with: http://www.muzique.com/lab/pickups.htm http://buildyourguitar.com/resources/lemme/ lots of ways to load the output of the pickup with resistance, capacitors or inductors. Then there are the classic Varitone circuits used in Gibson guitars or the L6-s variable mid co...

Re: MXR Distortion II
The DII is kind of the sleeper of the original MXR line. I dont think they were big sellers when they were introduced. The distortion character is very dynamic and woody or resonant sounding. The resonance control is a low frequency parallel gain stage with an input level control. The drive and reso...

Re: DOD FX10 BiFET Preamp (Booster Pedal) [schematic]
yeah I can see how someone could infer that there are 2(bi)-FET's in the box. The term is technically accurate so I don't think DOD was trying to fool anybody. There were DOD FET preamps before they made the 410 or the FX10 so maybe it was an attempt to differentiate them from the earlier FET preamp...

Re: DOD FX10 BiFET Preamp (Booster Pedal) [schematic]
It's funny how it's name has little to do with the actual circuit. You would expect something with two JFET gain stages, or something like the MOSFET Booster from AMZ ... In fact the J113 are switches and the 4007 CMOS acts as a latch for the stompswitch. The onlt FETs actually amplifying the signa...

Re: Cornish P-2 guts
It's got to be some kind of protection to keep the artist from getting electrocuted when touching a grounded micstand while plugged into an amp with a different "ground" potential. You might still feel a little shock through the capacitor, but it would probably prevent the current from re...

Re: Adding Clean Channel to Peavey Windsor
An extra preamp tube is not a requirement for a "clean" channel. Most modern channel switching amps use a tapped gain block of some kind or switched attenuation to achive both clean and overdriven sounds from the same tube count. The peavey 5150 uses switched attenuators for the "chan...

Re: New Vox SATCHURATOR pedal [schematic]
How about the other side of the board? any components there?
silksceen goes up to Q19 for transistors but clearly some are not fitted like Q13 (unless there on the other side)
looks like the board may be for several models with component numbers silkscreened
