Re: Tech21 - Character Series. [schematic]

Anyone have any idea why Tech21 discontinued these? They were pretty popular.

Re: Bearfoot - Honey Beest

BTW I'm using these pedals with a Vintage Modified Jazzmaster. Sounds absolutely fantastic even using the thin Bridge Pickup. I've found my Overdrive heaven.

To go into 'Crunch' mode I boost into it with a RoG Supreux Deux or JHS Superbolt.

Re: Bearfoot - Honey Beest

Hey Daeg - thanks for the schematic!... And it sounds fantastic. Hamish, I can't tell you how happy I am that you built and tested these. I actually purchased both ($350) for the sole purpose of tracing them. They were tricky to dissect and I had them on the workbench for like 4 months before the s...

Re: One Control - Honey Bee

The 22uF cap to Nature 2 should be 2u2 I am 95% certain - it sure sounds right. I'm sure it's 22uF. I'll take a pic to confirm. Even at 2.2uF it's probably letting almost all Lows through, so maybe there isn't any practical difference. The 360K resistor to Vref should go between the 47n (C6) and th...

Re: One Control - Honey Bee

I may breadboard this in the near future. One thing I am curious about is whether the CA3130 actually contributes anything in this circuit. In the Rat, the Opamp is actually clipping, so the poor slew-rate rounds out the otherwise hard clipping knee, and lowers the presence of higher-order harmonics...

Re: One Control - Honey Bee

Am I right if I assume that the 100n across pins 1 and 8 of the IC is actually 100pF? Would you suggest I try a smaller trimmer - say 10-20K? Yeah my mistake on unit. The compensation cap is 100pF. I definitely think a 10k Trimmer would be the way to go. Most 'Honey' pedals use a 5.6k resistor, and...

One Control - Honey Bee

I know someone out there has been waiting for this one. :o This is essentially Bjorn's Honeybee v5, with a switch to emulate the v1 Honeybee. It sounds fantastic. The quality of construction is absolutely superb, and the Gold / Amber Metallic enclosure is really stunning. A total joy to play. When c...

Re: Bearfoot - Honey Beest

^ NICE!

I support your decision to re-orient the JFETs. I can't wait to see some built reports come posted in the comment section.

Re: Bearfoot - Honey Beest

I have built a Honey Bee with the nature pot split into a treble and a bass pot. The nature goes bassy in one direction and trebley in the other with ground in the middle. So all I did was take the bassy wire to it's own pot to get a bass and treble EQ. You can then make the pedal brighter and stil...

Re: Bearfoot - Honey Beest

the Honey Beest is the darkest of the bunch C3! It's only 470pf in the honey bee. :slap: I figured that out a few weeks back when comparing this to the Hot Rodded Honeybee, but forgot. When I go to build a clone I'll definitely be building with the 470p value. The circuit sounds perfect at high-gai...

Re: Bearfoot - Honey Beest

Never seen the source and drain reversed in a JFET design like this... In the pics it looks like the legs might be twisted around. You sure you got the pinout correct? I was also thrown off by this. The board is designed for TO-18 rather than TO-92 package transistors, and the pins of the 2N5952 ar...

Can someone help me thumbnail the images? I've seen that on other posts and thought it happened automatically.

Bearfoot - Honey Beest

First time poster, long time lurker. http://oi64.tinypic.com/35n10et.jpg I'm fairly confident about this schematic. The pedal was quite difficult to trace due to the spaghetti wiring, vertically soldered axial resistors, jumpers, null components, tight spacing around trannies etc... Basically the bu...
