Re: Subdecay - Super Nova Drive [traced]

Ok, here's the actualized schematic. Any way, more eyes are welcome :thumbsup I pulled out my old notes. This appears to be correct. Most of them used TL022 opamps though. I think only some of the first few used the 4558. Because it clips to (virtual) ground through a resistor a small amount of the...

Re: Subdecay - Proteus [GUTS]

Looks like there's a lot of components on that little board. Super neat layout as always in SubDecay pedals. I wonder if Brian M gets them made up in China or Taiwan these days, like nearly everyone else does? No matter, it's a sweet looking board. :applause: Nope, they are still populated by hand ...

Re: AT&T blocking access to freestompboxes.org?

it does not work on my phone either. BTW ISP's rarely block sites specifically. As mentioned they are blocking the IP's. the problem with shared IPs is that you are always subject to whatever your IP neighbors are doing. ISPs are typically very hush hush about it. A few months ago our site (subdecay...

Re: Subdecay - Liquid Sunshine [traced]

looks about right.

I'm not sure if R13 and R14 are quite right.

And it's not too complicated. This is probably our easiest build. It's rather simple compared to most of the stuff we make. :D

Re: Subdecay - Liquid Sunshine [traced]

I wondered if anyone has tried the new 'version 3' Liquid Sunshine or knows anything about the changes to the circuit that give it more gain . The YouTube demo sounds great. Anyone got one yet? The new version is quite different. Still jfet based, but it has three gain stages. They are biased diffe...

Re: Subdecay - Super Nova Drive [traced]

The schematic looks about right. The volume pot should be log not linear.
The opamp we use in them now is a TL022, which surprisingly sounds a bit "meaner" than the 4558, TL062/72/82 or the many other we tried. Some of the early ones did have the 4558 in them though.

It's actually a textbook active EQ circuit. I can't take too much credit for it other than finding the right frequency bands to work with.

Re: Subdecay - Super Nova Drive [traced]

the railsplitter may have something to do with the use of gyrators to simulate inductors. they might need a little more current or not be happy with the standard 2 resistor bias. Exactly. I believe an early prototype we took to NAMM had 2k resistors as a bias voltage with a 220uF filter cap. It wou...

Re: Subdecay - Super Nova Drive [traced]

Agree on the pots , just order the right type from the beginning , I presume the money saved using existing or cheaper pots makes up for the time spent wiring them ? [ more time than money ? ] rat style o/d/ w/ active eq ? How does it sound ? it's not really an issue of the "right" pot. W...

I don't think it is generally possible to get a PT2399 to do long, bright repeats.

Well it is possible, there will just be a lot of noise and distortion. You could always use two ICs!

Re: Subdecay - Octasynth

Cool....well than, here's some things I'm curious about, and if you're willing to answer them, all the nicer, if not, oh well. :) : do you utilize passive or active filtering for the pre-octave fundamental extraction? Does an OTA (apart from the resonant filtering after the sub-octave) do any of th...

Re: Subdecay - Octasynth

Thanks for the info Brian. Agreed that the Blue Box filtering and squaring are not worth duplicating. The bluebox is actually pretty cool, but glitchy. Your better off embracing the glitchyness than wishing it did something else. Did you use something similar to the Boss OC-2/Microsynth scheme for ...

Re: Subdecay - Octasynth

Hi guys, The octasynth uses a CD4013, similar to the blue box. The prefiltering and comparitor prior to the flipflop circuit are different/better though. The filter is LM13700 based. I tried using several other IC's for the octave including the CD4047, and a couple counter IC's that I have around. A...

Re: Subdecay - Prometheus

Thx CJ, will give it a shot today when I get home. Also I'm assuming the board hasn't changed, but will check against my Prometheus out of curiosity. The boards should all be the same. The only changes we ever made were the capacitor type in the filer section.... and I think we changed a resistor v...

Re: Subdecay - Prometheus

im pretty interested in the filter, is it based off anything? The filter is essentially a state variable filter with adjustable Q you could pull out of a text book, only the dual gang pot is replaced with VCA's. As far as the rest (control portion) it was designed from scratch, although if you brea...

Re: Subdecay - Prometheus

Hi guys... It's a 2 layer board. The section labels (step clock, cv mix, etc) I originally put on there so I could keep track of where I wanted everything to go as I was working on it. I left them on there mostly because I thought it looked cool. It kind of reminded me a synth i worked on at one poi...

Re: Subdecay - Liquid Sunshine [traced]

Does anyone still have this schematic? I just heard about this pedal called the Buster Jangle that was rather rare, using the Liquid Sunshine and Super Chili Picoso designs. So I was wondering how it good it sounds...and I have the minibooster part for the Chili Picoso, but no Sunshine. Any help? :...
