Re: Ashbass - FUZZbrite
I built my version with BC108's and kept the .002's. I'm running it through my 5E3 amp so the brightness of this circuit is a GOOD thing
. 100% stock it ain't, but I try to build things with stuff I have on hand if I can, while keeping the vibe of the circuit alive.

Re: Danelectro - Spring King ( gutshots )
Hmmm...I changed my New Years resolution. Gotta try to build a spring reverb like the Spring King but maybe without the delay chip. Has anyone here built a unit like the Spring King? I know I could just buy one, but I'm betting the guys on this forum could make a better one.

Great lookin amp Wilco! And to quote..
Hi Guys, I've been lurking on this forum for quite a while (admiring Rick's perfboard work, and sub-mini projects) and just registered today so I figured I'd say hello and let you guys know how cool your little amps are. I'm absolutely addicted to tube amps now - in the past two years I've built fi...

Re: Vox Night Train
Thanks for the gut shots beavis! I just modded my EVJ into a 5E3 (thanks to a pcb from sting over at guitaramplifierpcbs.com). This looks like a great next project
. Love that Jaguar, dude!

Re: Tube Cricket or BH Killer Ant Build or Buy?
I built the noisy cricket and the Ruby amp as well. Fun guys for jammin in a pinch. I spent a good number of days on the porch playing these lil' amps while watching my 4 year old ride his scooter. I'm considering a low watt sub mini tube amp that I can play with. Gotta get another look at Frequency...

Re: Is it worth modifying a chinese-made tube amp?
Hell yes! bancika has some great ideas to start with. And as long as the pcb ain't ultra fragile, I wouldn't consider it a negative. I modded my EVJ into a 5E3 push pull amp running at 18 watts. I bought a beautiful, heavy duty pcb from Stingray over at the ppwatt forums and changed my import into M...

Re: Cost of DIY Kit versus Cost of Tube Combo Amp
Plenty of decent practice amps out there currently. The Epiphone valve jr is a lil' over $100 bucks and is pretty decent at 5 watts. Plus there are tons of mods from the sublime to the extreme: I gutted mine and turned it into an 18 watt 5E3 amp. The cost of the mod: roughly $130. Worth it? To me, d...

Re: Ayone try the BitMo Mods on EVJ?
Thanks for the detailed info Mike! Your layout and pics help describe the process well; and I have been reading up on VVR as a possible mod. And I agree: Ya gotta put that warning out there anytime someone's asking about modding a tube amp. Thankfully, I've got a number of hobbies that involve high ...

Freq,
I thought your Murder One rocked; but DAY-UM! That Superfly IS superfly! After I get done modding my Valve JR. I'm gonna do this build. Great work as usual dude.

Just noticed my typo
Hey Mike! Thanks for the info. The mods you listed sound right up my alley. I figured the BitMo stuff may be overpriced but hits that group of people who are nervous about messin' with their EVJ's. If you still have that layout, I'd be REAL interested!

Ayone try the BitMo Mods on EVJ?
Just picked up on of these heads the other day. Yes, I know there are countless sites devoted to modding; I'm just curious if any of you guys have tried the BitMo Trio Mod.

Re: Danelectro - BLT Slap Echo Variable Delay Mod
I'm a little late to the party but, this sounds like a cool mod to try! I have a BLT and find it does a pretty good slap back and surf, especially considering the price. But I agree that it's range is a bit limited. We'll change that soon enough!
Thanks for the post dude

Electro-Harmonix 22 Caliber 22-watt Guitar Amplifier Head

9 Volt Battery Snap Woes
Anyone know of a decent quality battery snap? The RadioShack ones are tormenting me to no end (breaking off no matter how well I solder em to connections). They easily fail on me and I can really use some advice. I'd hate to order something without hearing suggestions first.
