Re: TUBES : Valvecaster

That's a good idea. I made a print out of the schematic and have been looking over it. Though, I am still a little slow with straight up schematics.
My brain takes a while to get it. :-)

Re: TUBES : Valvecaster

Hey Jose, I see what you mean. I guess I was thinking how my own version of the pedal sounds which based on the Matsumin /Beavis Audio schematic that circulates the internet. I can see what you are saying, it's the sum of the parts that makes the pedal, not just the tube. Yeah that Hagerman pedal so...

TUBES : Valvecaster

Hey there. Ive been really getting into making some valve-casters lately. A good lock-down hobby! :-) So have been searching for nice tubes seeing whats out there. I found 12AU7(A)s to be really nice. Got some old stock. Sounds like 12AUX doesnt work so well according to some folks. I tried a new 12...

Re: 12A*7's, Choice, brands & Alternatives??

Hi - Very late reply..... but help someone. I've built a few VC's now and I found the 12AU7(A) to be really nice. If you want spanky fender sounds. I was lucky to pick up some vintage Admiral brand tubes and they are really nice. Has lower microphonic specs or something like that. Afterwards replaci...

Re: Low Hum DC Jack - Valve Caster Build

OK So, I rewired as you suggested and didn't reduce the hum. So was feeling frustrated. The rewire did tidy things up I must say, so that was all good. Then I realised on the bottom of my power supply there were 8 of these little dip switch buttons. There were all switched to the on position. So I t...

Yes OK - I will give that ago. I am still new to pedals, so learning as I go.

I was wondering about the shield to shield ground, whether that was needed.

Low Hum DC Jack - Valve Caster Build

HI all, Ive been lurking around forums trying to work this one out. So i've made a couple of Valve-Casters now and really digging the sound!! Especially with a strat. :-) Works fine with a battery, but when I plug in my DC power I get a very low hum. I have a decent Alctron DCT-200 power supply with...

Fuzz Tone Stacks

Hi all, I've been trying to find a nice tone stack for my simple Bazz Fuss circuit. I was after something that wasn't just rolling off some highs. Maybe adding a bit of colour. I feel like the tone circuit is an important part of the overall sound of the pedal. So found this Big Muff tone circuit th...

3PDT Wiring

Hi all, I am having some problems with a new 3DPT switch I have wired up. I have a bit of NEWBY question.... Is there a correct way (top or bottom) the switch should be wired? I'm pretty confident I've followed my instructions correctly. https://www.diyguitarpedals.com.au/shop/boms/Emberdrive.pdf Lo...

Cap Values

HI,
I was wondering if anyone has found a good source for understanding the frequency values of capacitors in a visual way?

Maybe in the way you would visualise EQ?

Re: PSK SMT-2 Super Metal

Hi, Thanks for posting this!!! Picked mine it up way back in the 90s. I used to run my bass through it cause It always had some good low end. Sounded massive. You never see them around, so must be fairly rare these days? i had always wondered what it was. Kinda a strange pedal. That tone knob is cra...
