Re: Paul Cochrane - Timmy [traced]

It also lops off high end, of which the exact cut off frequency varies depending on the drive control setting. You're looking at ~72kHz with the drive at minimum, and ~6kHz with the drive at max. Then after that stage, another filter cuts off high end starting around ~720Hz. At what stage does that...

Re: Paul Cochrane - Timmy [traced]

Thanks for the info Paul :) After a lot of experimenting with the TS basic circuit i'm starting to to think that the tone control is what makes it midrangy and a bit muddy, I guess the rat style tone control is what makes the timmy more transparent. (Although I know you started it off as a booster ...

Guys I tried the PNP version and I can't manage to properly bias the tranny I used a japanese 2SB175A with 84 hfe and 32uA of leakage. The germanium diode is a 1N60P By moving the balance pot y get a range of 5v to 9v between ends The audible effect is like a volume control, no change in fuzz chara...

No, it doesn't. The 1k can go in either position with no affect on operation.

Re: Skreddy Mayonaise MKIII [traced]

All resistors are 1/2 Watt carbon comp except for power supply intake and LED current limiter. All .1uf' caps are multilayer ceramic. They sound like the oldschool ceramic discs that aren't made any longer. The .1uf ceramic discs you can get generally aren't as full sounding. The 120R resistor inli...

Re: Skreddy Mayonaise MKIII [traced]

Thank you both so very much for this ! :applause: When I saw R7 was only 120r in the schematic, I had to check the photographs. It seems Mark really did use a rather low value for the limiting resistor. Yea, it was weird. Totally threw me off for a minute or two, but it's definitely correct...

Re: mountainking huge box v1

Sorry should put this in first post. Transistors were sanded. Electrolitics were 100 uf and 10 uf caps are a .01, .0047, and .22 I forgot to see what the pot value was. Gracias. Pot is actually show in one of the pics, I just missed it. Can you post a close up of that mess of resistors on top and a...

Vertex Boost Workalike

Saw this in a thread on TGP, and thought it was a worthwhile enough idea. Knocked up this workalike and breadboarded it in about 10 minutes. Expression pedal wiring will probably depend on what type you wind up using. As shown, it should work with a Boss FV500L, though I can't say for sure sin...

Re: Earthquaker Devices - The Warden [traced]

Look at the data sheet for the 78L0x series. Pin 3 is input, not output.

EDIT: Doh, I just realized he didn't label what it is in the pictures, the 78L is from your schem. It may be correct then, but it's a different regulator.

Re: Earthquaker Devices - The Warden [traced]

No, that's the 78L05. The 78L09 requires 10.7V. No traditional regulator regulates up, and only low dropout voltage regulators would be able to output 9V from 9.6V supplied by most wall warts. EDIT: Th regulator input is clearly connected to pin 1/8 of the charge pump. I'd guess it's a 78L05 based o...

Re: Earthquaker Devices - The Warden [traced]

R15 and R16(bias) seems to be wrong:/ 2kOhm from 18V makes 10mA current. This is almost max from LTC1044 you can get. I've just build this on bread board and i have voltage drop down from 15 to 12 V after i connected R15 and R16. This two resistors should be 10k at least(0,9mA current). Besides - i...

I'm using all J201's and they are all about 330hfe, which seems like it might be on the low side but that's all I got from tayda. Maybe I should order them from another supplier. ..and I've now built 2 of these and they both sound and react the exact same way. It sounds good and all knobs work corr...
