Re: Can't find the Voltage Regulator I need. Will this work?

Beware, if you run the LM7809 with 18V on input it will be very hot, the best would be a 12V input, or use some efficient heat sink. If you have already a synth psu with +/-15V it's also possible to feed the LM7809 with the +15V, but think about heatsink anyway. Voltage regulators and charge pumps a...

Re: Can't find the Voltage Regulator I need. Will this work?

But do you really need a voltage regulator if you're using a 9v battery or standard 9v adaptor? +1 a clean 9V psu or battery will do the job perfectly. moreover your regulator won't have enough voltage to work correctly, unless you feed it with at least 12V. If you have a cheap wallwart you can mea...

Re: LED wiring for Commonsound/4ms Tremulus Lune?

okay, sorry for the overcomplicated wiring my eyes weren't in their holes last night  . You're right, pins 1 & 2 are connected together so you can use the pads around the 1K resistors (also you could take a look at the "perfboard" version too as it's way more simple than the p...

Re: LED wiring for Commonsound/4ms Tremulus Lune?

good shot! You're right I've made a mistake, it should onto pin 2. I will correct asap! I'm not sure about this pcb, but if you have it under you hands it's easy to test a track with a DMM to seen what points are matching. It's important that -LED goes to this junction between the two 1K resistors s...

Re: LED wiring for Commonsound/4ms Tremulus Lune?

So you'll have to use a 3PDT for the bypass (as in the stock version) but you'll need to wire a new LED onto it instead of the flashing indicator. This new LED will be the simple on/off and all has to be wired like a normal " true bypass with LED "; while the flashing LED will be put somew...

Re: metalfilm vs carbon resistors?

well i have not used the right word, I would say "with less noise". That's what I call cleaner (even in a OD circuit :D ), but you're right it's not clear.

Re: metalfilm vs carbon resistors?

Also metal film are quieter than carbon comp resistors. Today it doesn't make sens to buy carbon comp because the metal film ones are the same price. But In some cases you'll NEED a carbon resistor, for example in some high voltage / tube amp where the carbon comp will introduce some nice distortion...

Re: Interfax - Harmonic Percolator [schematic]

Did you get the "octave down" effect with your builds? I've build the Giblet "later version" and the "Albini version" from Madbean, and they sound totally different: On the Giblet version I used an AC128 and a 2N2222a, it sounds really meaty with this "octave down&...

They call it clock balance trim in this document.

Have you adjusted the clock cancelation trimmer?
it's maybe this noise you are hearing.

If you have not done it yet, so you should perform these procedures:

Marlboro - Quadra Sound Blender QBS [schematic]

Hey folks I'm not sure of the manufacturing date of my unit... I hope I post in the good section. I've done a full recap on my old QSB as it was really too much noisy... I've not found pictures anywhere, so I've taken some photos of its guts, just for the curious because it is not a real good reverb...

Re: FAME DCT 200 guts

Thanks Dirk, yes I know the datasheet for these regs, I will probably do the mod someday if I feel pedals are "underpowered"... for the moment that's fine with my setup as I use this psu only for few offboard effects. If think this under voltage is because they have used cheap 5% resistors...

Re: Power supply quick question

Are you sure about the different voltage drop when using a 4001 or a 4004? To me the differences are related to the max reverse voltage they can stand before blowing. I've never seen such info about that in the datasheets... and I use a lot of 4007UF (cause I've a huge stock in my drawer) with the s...

Re: Tech21 Sansamp Classic

it is supposedly based on the schematic attached as "sansampclassicrev12" I've tried this schemo some time ago and it didn't worked! I suggest you to try the other one where you'll find only one VBias (posted by Gila on the first page of this thread), but don't expect a perfect clone. I'v...

Re: Power supply quick question

I have to admit that those resistors may not blow fast enough to protect some ICs; but I've experienced the case with one module someday and there was only one TL074 blown, the other discrete trannies were intacts... maybe a question of luck here, I don't know. But a polarity inversion or short cut ...

Re: Power supply quick question

I'm not sure to talk about the same resistors, but in many circuits you can find 10ohm resistors on the DC lines or ferrite beads, the resistors will blow in case of reverse polarity while protecting the circuit itself (mainly when used with +/-15V psu), and act like a filtering add on to clean up D...

Re: FAME DCT 200 guts

The best thing would be a "snap on" cooler, but there is realy no place around the LM317 to put a standard thing. Or I could cut a custom piece of alu specially shaped, but for the regulator just beside the choke it will be tricky. Not sure about if the battery emulation is always a good t...

FAME DCT 200 guts

Hi folks Sorry if I post in the wrong place, I don't really know where to put this thread... moderators: feel free to move it into the right section. I've just took some shots of this psu, as I'm always curious to see "how it's made inside" :D There is a dirty factory mod in my unit, a dio...

Re: Tech21 Sansamp Classic

Could someone post the schematic by George Giblet again please? I'm not sure about the Gila schematic even if it's verified, I've a clone and an original on the bench and they don't sound the same at all; to my ears the clone based on Gila project is only in the field of the tonal characteristics of...
