Re: ELITA Kvazichor [pictures]

Thanks for the correction mate.
So it's not the kind of IC I thought it was:

ELITA Kvazichor [pictures]

Hello I've got one of these on my bench for a small repair. It's a very interesting stereo chorus capable of smooth and very subtle effects, but also weird pitch modulations and seasick generator. It reminds me the TC SCF because they both have a modern clean overall sound, but the Elita is more dir...

Re: Original Soundwave Breakdown: WTF? [traced]

Yup that's a nice "in your face" squarewave generator  In the PGS demo they've shown the two trimpots, one for the "input threshold" and the second for the "level" (I assume it's the output level). Do you have the values for these trimmers please? edit: or maybe the trimpots are on your schemat...

Re: Lithium Battery for TR505

Hi before going further you should have a look at the service manual: http://www.synthfool.com/docs/Roland/TR_Series/TR505/ You can find the 3V lithium with solder pin battery in many shops, for example: https://syntaur.com/Items/4311.html There a plenty on e-bay too which are a lot cheaper. If the ...

Nope, the tremolo is located after the reverb tank, inorder to chop the reverb tail

Thanks for this very clean schematic mate, the cross references for the ICs and transistors are very useful :applause:

LEL Distortion - russian - [ GUTSHOTS ] [schematic]

Hi I've got this one on the bench because the owner had used a wrong psu... he toughts that it would run on 18V because of the two 9V batteries, but they are in parallel  I would swear I've seen a topic about this pedal some time ago, but I couldn't find it anymore. So sorry for the double post...

Re: Micro Synth Filter Sweep

Hi honestly the EHX microsynth enveloppe is pretty basic, simple AR + Delay... I'd suggest to build a better enveloppe follower + a good ADSR enveloppe; then as filter I find the Steiner VCF much more musical and crazy than any OTA-based VCF but there are tons of VCFs which are very good too. Fast a...

Re: MXR M-167 Stereo Chorus - Command Series [Gutshots]

Thanks for the confirmation. However it doesn't allow for a fine setup: it has a very limited range, so I can only see distortion at some point in the negative peaks of the signal. I've ended to let this trimmer in the same postion as it was when I opened the pedal... there's no real adjustement, ju...

Re: MXR M-167 Stereo Chorus - Command Series [Gutshots]

Yes the micro chorus schematic is very close to this one. Thanks for the tips about the switch. I've found the real problem using the scope, it came from the pedal assembly choice: there is way too much mechanical stress on the jacks and pots. So the already fixed tracks, as you can see on my pictur...

Thanks for advice.
I've just came across your post about the other Reticon chips, very interesting if they can be cross refs.

Re: MXR M-167 Stereo Chorus - Command Series [Gutshots]

Yes this one is defective, I've to make further tests to see if the SAD is still ok, because there's no chorus when the FX is on.
But I'd feel more comfortable if I had a schematic (with the transistors references as well) to guide my steps.

MXR M-167 Stereo Chorus - Command Series [Gutshots]

Hi as requested by fellow Govmnt Lacky, let's go with some pictures of the one I have to repair; it has the Reticon SAD512D onboard, and it's not in perfect shape. All the transistors/FETs are sanded  Diodes are 1N914, trimmer is 250KOhm. IMGA0905.JPG IMGA0907.JPG IMGA0909.JPG IMGA0914.JPG IMG...

Re: T Rex Room-Mate [gutshots]

Hi iefes sorry the board on the one I had to repair was too damaged for me to manage to fix the problem. I admit this kind of digital FX with complicated multi-layer pcb is way beyond my poor skills in electronics. Concerning the one you have to repair: first I'd suggest to check the regulator and t...

8) Thanks Pete, I know speakers are a very difficult subject. But your suggestion makes sense!!! I didn't think about the Hiwatt Fane loaded cabs before you mentioned it, and I think you're right about the sound my friend is looking for, it could compare to David Gilmour sound somehow but with more ...

Fender Showman BF 85w loudspeaker question

Hi my mate is looking for a set of loudspeakers (two 12" 16ohm in parallel) to replace his dual homemade Beyma cab. I've seen many advises concerning the old JBL's 15" but he's looking for something currently in production :D For the moment he's testing a single speaker cab with a Jensen P12N but it...

Re: Quasi Filter Sample Hold design

Thanks for sharing this one!
I like this flutter effect a lot, however on the attacks it sounds strangely, as if there was an enveloppe detector but with "the reverse output" driving the filter.
Is there a way to remove this inorder to have a more "flat" response of the filter?

Well edit button has gone away...

There's also an orange LED soldered just under the tube socket, it fits a 3mm hole inside the socket so it makes the tube a lot more "mojo-ish" 8)

Re: T Rex Room-Mate [gutshots]

Hi

you're lucky: the pedal is dead but not yet buried
The transistor beside the xformer is a BC639... ICs are 7805CT, 78L09A and NE555.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
