Re: Wampler Velvet Fuzz [traced]
I'm asking my self is tweaking with the fat boost side one can obtain less fuzz and more VH1 type of sound, given the plexi drive by itself could be a great base to start with. Maybe tailoring the bass on the emitter, like in a Marshall amp first stage? (there is a 2.7K + .68uF on one channel and a ...

Re: Fuzz face topology - alternative gain controls
what about a plain FET , common source buffer feeding a 6.8K in a 250K pot to ground, center to the 2.2uF input cap? that way you can put the pedal anywhere in the chain. the R could simulate the pup impedance, the 250K the guitar volume pot. I think I even tried it somewhere in the past and it didn...

Re: Boss - DS-1 Distortion mods (what works, what doesn't?)
Hi, this is a zombie thread that sometimes got out, but I'd like to share my DS1 mods too. In the VH fever around I was trying different boxes to obtain a decent VH 1 sound with my Fender Princeton and my strat (ok, impossible, but we are here for fun), I tried different things (plexi drive, ocd, ec...

Re: EHX - Glove OD [schematic]
I've seen there is a 100KB pot (like OCD) , maybe a 100KA could cure the problem making the pot more usable ? Ok, I tried by myself (destroying the tiny switch unmounting the board but, whatever, I do like the Hi pos, so a soldered a short) it definitely worked, 100KA is way better to control the v...

Re: EHX - Glove OD [schematic]
Hi, I have one, 2nd hand, very nice pedal (as OCD indeed) I've noticed the Volume rises very quick from nothing to almost full on in the very first quarter of the rotation, making it a bit difficult to use it, is it something other ones notice? I've seen there is a 100KB pot (like OCD) , maybe a 100...

Tone City - King of Blues (gutshots)
Hi, bought this double switch pedal second hand very cheap, I post the link to my shared google photos album of the inside circuit, front, with different lights, and back: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xvu33ddKnxAn4r7d7 I though it should be a clone of the Analogman King of tone, double independent swit...

Re: Amazonbasics - Overdrive
I'd like to say that standard size components are better than smd but, really, I can't, smd isn't worse it's just a different kind of engineering, more so, in most cases the S/N ratio is even better: the mechanization of the process permits a reduction not only of time in production but in possible ...

Re: Boss DF-2 Super Feedbacker and Distortion Mods?
Hey all, I'm new to the modding game and slowly getting my head around schematics and such. As I understand it, the DF-2 pretty much has the same distortion circuit as the DS-1, hello, no it's very very similar, so the mods of the DS1 apply on the DF2. this is a list of the equivalent components, s...

Re: SD1 - try getting a real transparent overdrive - I'm not able
Maybe this will provide some ideas? https://modyourownpedal.com/blogs/news/a-few-easy-boss-sd-1-super-overdrive-mods thank you (btw, the schematics in the link contains errors for example it lacks the 1st opamp feed to ground that shapes the bass rolloff corner) the boutique mod reported there enla...

SD1 - try getting a real transparent overdrive - I'm not able
Hi, since we are again in lockdown and I had to occupy my time, I thought What about taking out one of my old SD1 out the drawer and mod it to get the most transparent overdrive I can get ,like my Timmy for example? I love the Timmy transparency, that pleasant grit on the highs, the crunchy round ba...

Re: ProCo - You Dirty Rat - exactly, which diodes?
(Hey, I wrote this post in the Modern Stompxes forum since I was talking about the actual components type of the real pedal of the original schematics, not about a cheap copy, is the Administrator who moved it here? why?)

ProCo - You Dirty Rat - exactly, which diodes?
Hi, some ago I modded a RAT2 putting two 1N34A diodes, whis is, as far as I know, what it is supposed to be in a You Dirty Rat circuit (since I have another stock RAT2 the comparison is easy and I prefer hands down the YDR sound). BUT, reading around in various forums, the info about the right type ...

Re: Marshall - Drivemaster [schematic]
Ok, tried it, I don't like it  The sound it's very marshally but it's dull, I had to cranck the gain and/or the treble, otherwise it seemed muffled and dull. The only usable position is in front of my TImmy, to boost it, that way it opens up a bit, but my Ts9 or my hardwire cm2 works way better...
