Re: Help identify effect / UniVibe or RotoVibe?

itìs a Leslie. If you want a weirdly good leslie on a budget sound get a 2nd hand digitech Crossroad pedal: it's a clapton signature awful (yes, awful) attempt to reproduce a number of Clapton distinctive sounds, BUT the 'Badge' position is worth the cost of the pedal, it's the only usable of all th...

Re: Marshall - Drivemaster [schematic]

Update: it wasn't the switch, I changed with no results, it took a bit to find it but in the end it was the malfunctioning opamp. I replaced it with a TL072CN I had at home, now it works without problem. (It was the first time I encounterd a defective opamp in a pedal indeed, it's always a matter of...

Re: Marshall - Drivemaster [schematic]

Reviving this old thread... I've just bought a Drivemaster, good external condition, it seems nobobody touched inside BUT it doesn't work properly, in fact the sound bypassed AND the effected sound, both seem like they're muffled, like there would be a tone control dimed. That leads me to think the ...

Re: Paul Cochrane - Timmy [traced]

Of all the overdrive and distortion I had in my life (many), the Timmy is the most useful and beautiful, killer tone, killer construction. Coupled with a OCD and a AMZ miniboost, this is the best pedal rig I've ever had so far regarding distortion. I originally made a clone, then I bought an origina...

Re: Dunlop - JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face [schematic]

it depends on the bc107 you havem, it has normally different hfe than the bc108c.
If you have one, try with a tester a bunch of transistors looking for an hfe closer to the one reported in the schem to start with

I've personally classified this circuit in the WOT section (where WOT means Waste Of Time).

Disappointing, nothing more than a sort of timmy without the output OAmp.

Re: MXR Classic 108 Fuzz [schematic]

This makes sense for a simple generic bjt buffer. I generally make buffer like that with a Fet, even simpler, a 1M from gate to ground, drain to V+, Source to a 10K to ground, output capaictor bigger enough, 4 components. I'm interested in the R13 value: I used a 10K in a buffered FF I built some ag...

Re: Death By Audio Interstellar Overdriver [traced]

Oh, no hard feelings, mang. Here's what I got after a quick look last night. The only real difference from the above is the 3.3k and 10k resistors have swapped places and the transistors have been flipped. Could be wrong, check it over, breadboard it, etc. etc. etc, blah blah blah. The volume pot w...

Re: marshall guvnor mk1 [schematic]

Build it with a 220pF and see if you like the sound. I have a Danelectro daddy-o (with the tone stack correction mod) with a 220 pF on second stage, when I put a 47 pF it became shrill. And the guv'nor haven't even any output buffer to eventually tame the highs, so I got curious. btw, I didn't inte...

Re: marshall guvnor mk1 [schematic]

Could anyone owning a real Guv'nor confirm the statement below? In every schematics I've seen about the Guv'nor or its sons (danelectro Daddy-0, MI Crunch Box for example) the cut freq of the second stage is between 1K and 2K, thank you, M IIRC there is a component error on the Marshall schematic th...

Re: Paul Cochrane - Timmy [traced]

I just want to say I built a Timmy clone some ago. It was so beautiful I decided to have an original one.

Now I have it, and I have to say it's top quality, worth the price and way more.

Cochrane is undoubtedly one of the best builder around.

Thank you Paul.

Re: Sola Sound - Tonebender MkIII [schematic]

Since I 'don't like positive ground and charge pump and I wanted a normal power supply still using a PNP do you think this partial redraw of the schematic could work? (the sound comes from the last tranny the most, so I just flipped the germanium PNP)

thank you!

But I'd like to see the pictures as well.
It doesn't sound like a tube screamer, neither like a bad monkey I have the three. Maybe it's due to the voltage doubler, but the tone seems to act differently

Re: Emerson Custom Guitars E-M Drive. [traced]

yes, of course, what's good for me could be someone's nightmare, I forgot to put the "IMHO" word in my sentence. Anyway I think there is a misconception about this type of circuits, the assumption 'less is better' is not always true and often people tend to bend their ears to psychoacousti...
