Re: Paul Cochrane - Timmy [traced]

Paul, on another subject, would you mind telling us what kind of clear coat you're using on your pedals? It seems to be pretty tough and shiny. I'm using some clear now that seems kind of "plastic-y", I'd like a more professional finish. I assume you're using a 2 part self hardening auto t...

Re: HBE Power screamer

 Talk about timing... I just traced one of these last night! Anyway, the R/C combo of the feedback loop is 3k9+68nf with Boost off, and switches to a 1K+100nf with Boost on. The diode configuration is a little strange: the left-hand position is a silicon diode one way and LED the other, the ri...

Re: Landgraff "short signal path" theory

Thanks for the opinions guys. I wasn't saying I believed it, just thought it was an interesting idea. It always surprised me that the Landgraff pedals don't have oscillations or weird behavior from the components being so close together. I assume since pedals are low voltage it makes little differen...

Landgraff "short signal path" theory

Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but here goes anyway. I heard that Landgraff builds his pedals using the concept that the shortest possible sigbal path in a pedal will give the best sound. As an example, if you took all the traces from a Ibanez TS-9 and strung them end to end you might...

Re: [traced]

Hi guys, has anyone actually have a sound clip or build photos of a KDM clone. I have built it per the best accurate schematic mentioned above but it doesn't sound even close to the real thing?! Is there anything missing in the reverse engineered schematic? I know I built mine correctly. Does anyon...

Re: Lovepedal - Eternity [traced]

I'd still like to know what the super secret chip is. It looks exactly like a Fairchild chip but I tested virtually all of them and didn't find it. Anyone have any guesses?

The good news is that a lot of chips sound good in the circuit.

Thanks for the schem Dirk! I have one of these, I like it a lot. It's really intense sounding w/a really deep flange-

Re: BAJA Sagittarian Charger (mini KLON)

It actually gets pretty dirty with gain cranked, I would say at least double that of a cranked tube screamer, probably more like 3-4 times as much. Sounds like there's still an error in your build. I had a lot of trouble with the 1st and 3rd builds, it's a complex circuit.

Re: BAJA Sagittarian Charger (mini KLON)

On another subject, are the1n4001's in this build neccessary? That is, would a 1n916 or similar do the job just as well? 1n4001's have very heavy leads, lotta diode for a little circuit board :D

Re: BAJA Sagittarian Charger (mini KLON)

Not sure what I've done on this build lol have triple checked everything and with magnifying glass, all values, and my scope! On the 2nd TL072, I get a signal on pin 6, most other pins just have a negative voltage of varying amounts. If anyone could post some IC readings it'd help so much! Cheers, ...

I've been looking for these too, the early Rats use them. They're LM308 by Motorola. They seem to be extinct, I've found lots of LM308 by zero by Motorola.

Success! I swapped out the pot and resoldered all the connections in the treble boost section. Not sure which was the problem but it's working now. Thanks for the help guys!

Re: BAJA Sagittarian Charger (mini KLON)

Thanks Baja. I have no doubts about the build/design, this is #3 and was for me, the other 2 work/sound great. It's one of those annoying things where the pedal sort of works and everything looks right, I wasted plenty of time troubleshooting w/no luck. I'll have another go at it.

Think I checked it but it's worth double checking, I'll do that. I have had some bad Alpha pots, mostly 100k's.

Help w/troubleshooting

I'm having a problem with my 3rd Baja Sag build and wanted some opinions from the board members. The pedal works but the treble control is inactive-it acts like a volume control totally shutting off the sound, and it doesn't affect the treble. The gain and volume work fine and it switches normally. ...

Re: Bixonic - Expandora [traced]

Yes, it looks exactly like that. I can't figure out how to remove the board. There's no room to slide the jacks out of the case mounting holes. It was very strange to me. I need to look at it again and see if there's something I missed. I had the same problem. A while back I was thinking of modding...
