You could etch that pattern on, paint it yellow, then sand it.

Sound samples are good:

Not bad, thanks. I'll still use my meter for resistors in parallel :).

I did a PNP only schem with a 3V battery, not like the production box, perhaps closer to the hypothetical original version. It works without Q1. I found it easier to get working than the Tonbender I design.

The Apollo may work perfectly in a bass guitar, it gives you the passive cut you want, plus the added versatility of a treble boost. I don't think the circuit was intended as a pedal, unless the designer knew nothing. The 3-knob tonebender's Q3 would be a plausible GE Treble/Bass booster, I'm sure y...

There was a guy on Aron's forum with a Vox Apollo 6-string with treble/bass boost, but the photos were blurry. Even a couple of resistor values would be good.

http://www.gilmourish.com/?page_id=18 "Colorsound Power Boost" So that would explain Gilmour adequately. Angelo says the Orange Treble Bass Booster is Sola-Sound and used by Gilmour. So maybe we are still talking about the Coloursound Power Boost, but with the wrong schematic. Or maybe the...

I don't know what nationality it is, it has a mirror-image "13" on the base. It doesn't bias in the circuit, while the first Mesa AX7A that came to hand did. So I blamed the original tube, perhaps unfairly. It sounds like a good fuzzbox with a decent tube. Direct to soundcard: http://www.g...

Marshall GV-2 -> Morley JD10 hack

The GV-2 doesn't really have any treble, so I added some:

You'll have to copy and paste the link in.

The schematic appears to be the one in the patent/AMZ schematic. With a different heater resistor value. I didn't check every component against the schematic. The main fix is to throw the Behringer "tube" in the garbage and put in a real tube.

I remember Fripp saying his fave fuzzbox was a Burns Buzz Box, but since it was so good, they stopped making it. I vaguely recall he didn't have it for Heroes, and he said he could get his sound with any fuzz box. Balance and Treble would suggest something different from the other tonebenders, but w...

Behringer Preamp Booster

This is $20, opamp Gain Treble Bass. just add your fave clipping element, such as a FET, MOSFET, CD4049, NPN Ge, whatever. Add a master volume. Plastic case, so a lunchtime project. Just put something between the jack and PCB, some copper foil shielding. The PCB is small, plenty of room. Or use it a...

OK, pics tomorrow. Macro photography, main board 1"x4" in a big box. This is the patent version, I think the production version was different. The VT999 has 4 knobs, plus a noise gate. Anyway, $50 in stores. I get 0.07V on pin 2 grid, second gain stage. The original tube, I could hear the ...
