Re: Boss DD-20 Rotary Encoder?
Thanks for pointing that one out! I ended up desoldering the original pot and went over it throughly with contact cleaner, resoldered, and sure enough it's been working well since (didn't think it would to be honest). I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it goes again so I'll keep this one in ...

Boss DD-20 Rotary Encoder?
Hey all, Trying to repair the faulty rotary encoder pot on my Boss DD20. The sweep in either direction is glitching the delay time like hell. Had a similar problem with an older WH-4 Whammy, but sourcing that replacement pot was a breeze. I've found the part number, but nothing else. Contacted Boss/...

Re: Pete Cornish - Mystery Pedal [gooped][x-ray'd]
This is getting derailed. I just wanted to see the schematic  It wouldn't be a Cornish thread unless it got wildly derailed by arguments about construction, layout, part choice, and Pete's methodologies, [smilie=a_whyme.gif] Hopefully with some patience, we'll get to see/build what's under the...

Re: Building a clone of Tychohabre Parapedal wah ,some mods
Do you mind sharing where you scored the dual gang 10k pot? Had one of these on the backburner for a long time mostly on account of not being able to source a suitable pot with a proper sized shaft for the rack/pinyon.

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
I've seen that pic too. The third board with the IC might be another buffer, or possibly even a power inverter to run PNP transistors. I think a buffer is way more likely, but you never know.... The blue cap is a link to ground. You can find more details on this by looking at the G2 schematic, as i...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
EXTERNAL BIAS POT I ended up using a 4.7k resistor with a 25k pot for the external bias. Gave a nice range. Works well on the board I made which is using germanium transistors for Q 4 & 5. Naturally the bias range will be transistor dependant. So resistor from the junction of Q4 collector and Q...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
Ok, thanks, I was thinking that the most convenient thing to do is to make the bias asjust with a pot, and put it in the outside with de others controls like in the ng3 version...any posible cons to it? More noise? Its something that I always think, that using a pot instead of a good metal resistor...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
Hello Palelight, I was refering more to the usual hiss, yes its true that a fuzz with adjusted to sound gated it will be very silent (between notes  )..my diy mayer octavia is one of my most quiet pedals, more than the usual ts-type ods... Understood. Then like Andy mentioned, it's quiet but n...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
By silent do you mean gated? Cause with the bias set high enough (after 2o'clock on the bias pot), it can be very gated and silent when you're not playing.sopapo1 wrote:Thank you very much Andy, and what about the noise? Its a silent pedal? The layout is critical for low noise??

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
Hello, first of all, thank you andy for your work on the nugget/ng2, I am very interested in this "build"... I have several questions, why the suggestion of using a ge tranny on the last stage ? and the same question is for de ge diode. In the cornish page, he says that the "stabiliz...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
I may try putting the buffer in front - thanks! Good idea. I have experimented with the bias as i imagine that the gating is part of the idea. Really, why isn't the bias an exterior control then? I have also built Fuzzdog's Pitbull fuzz and that is one of my favourites for gated, "broken"...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
Bummer you didn't like the fuzz. I think this pedal is one instance where it's crucial to have the Cornish buffer in front of the effect. I built mine using the Pedal PCB board as well and it was night and day adding the buffer inline. Without it the gain stages are not getting slammed enough to hav...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
Well, ignore what I said above about the big muff... should have looked at more than the final gain stages. Indeed a silicon FF goosed with BMP output and clipping stages as noted over at guitar-fx-layouts. Any way of knowing if this is just someone's approximation of the circuit from the scant info...

I just ordered the "Nugget Fuzz" board from Robert at Pedalpcb.com. It is based on the NG-2. No schematic up yet but... https://www.pedalpcb.com/product/nugget/ Thanks for the heads up. Just snagged one, worth a shot anyway. I'd figured, given some of the ungooped gutshots posted earlier,...

Re: Pete Cornish - NG-2
Does anyone want to work on setting up a new tracers fund..? In Lou Reeds memory? I love the NG Fuzz sound he gets on Like A Possum. Its insane and kind of unique yet something that's always been there, ay? Because I've been chasing that Like a Possum sound for so long, I'm willing to pledge $100 t...
