Great work to both chip and szukalski. Glad the capacitor did the trick.

Re: BOSS DS-1W waza craft [schematic]

Hello again everyone! Soon after tracing this circuit, I felt like it would be nice to have a simpler, DIY friendly version. I've called it DS-R, which stands for "Reasonable": it's a pretty hefty circuit, but I've sized things down when possible. I think it would be fitting to share it he...

Re: "That" compressor - good, easy, adjustable DIY compressor [documentation]

That is a pretty nifty piece of design, and you've made a very good job of explaining your design approach and reasoning. I have one (minor) criticism: I've never liked "exposing" Op-Amp inputs directly to the Outside World ™ - I've always found them to be somewhat vulnerable - so I'd be ...

I knew the joke would have worked! You mean THAT compressor, but I've made this compressor!

"That" compressor - good, easy, adjustable DIY compressor [documentation]

I had wanted to make a compressor circuit for a long time, because it's a popular and somewhat easy to make effect, but the existing DIY offer left something to be desired. You should be ready to accept some compromise, in the form of: noisy and hard to find OTA chips; expensive and hard to find (in...

Sorry for the newbie question. The schematic has a "VCC ->" in the voltage regulation section. Where does the VCC connect to?
nowhere! it's a leftover from schematics that used that voltage, like in transistor designs.

Re: Pevy Knave guitar preamplifier [documentation]

This might be the final excuse for ordering those damn TLC2272 that I keep procrastinating on. A question, though: would it be useful to scale the tonestack (x10 caps, ÷10res) in this context? When ogling at well known circuits from Lab Series, MM, H&K, etc, I find that there is no common pract...

Re: Pevy Knave guitar preamplifier [documentation] [documentation]

Of course, while I think 9V operation has all the headroom one would need (after all, it's just a matter of decreasing the gain), using a 12V or 18V supply might skip the need for the input LEDs (keep the output ones, you'll never need more output) and possibly increase the input stage gain, with e...

Re: BOSS DS-1W waza craft [schematic] [schematic]

It could be 880, it could be 209, the two have the same specs and the same markings. E The 880 is actually TINY. I think toshiba packages have different names, but the 2sk209 is equivalent to a sot-23 and the 2sk880 is equivalent to a sot-323. https://forum.pedalpcb.com/attachments/1677588135459-pn...

Re: BOSS DS-1W waza craft [schematic] [schematic]

Wow, that is actually quite fancy, quite a lot discrete semiconductors. Cool, do wonder why they haven't used an internal smps to up the power supply voltage, since they have used a dedicatedncircuit for the bias voltage. Can you explain me what you meant? The supply is only stepped down and the bi...

Re: BOSS DS-1W waza craft [schematic] [schematic]

Thank you for your work! An early birthday present for me! :D It's exciting to see 2SK880 being used in a commercial guitar pedal. This is the first time I've seen it used in a pedal outside of my own designs. I started using them a few years ago when 2SK117 became impossible to get, and I really l...

BOSS DS-1W waza craft [schematic]

Despite having been around for some years, there's still an aura of mystery around waza craft BOSS pedals. What do they have in common, what is the "waza" factor? What do the custom modes even do? There's some info thrown around about CCS-loaded buffers, which are nice even if unnecessary ...

Re: Pevy Knave guitar preamplifier [documentation] [documentation]

I had the Heritage VTX in my late teens/early twenties, and whereas it did not sound as flashy as my mates 5150s and Big Gear Marshalls, in retrospective, it was a masterpiece in SS design, especially the clean channel and its paramid (as well as taking pedals amazingly well)... Glad to be helpful....

Re: Pevy Knave guitar preamplifier [documentation] [documentation]

Impressive work, Dylan! Regarding the diodes, I can't really comment on their behaviour with npns, but I have been experimenting with Jfets + diode at Gate (as described in one iteration of PV's patents) and I like it better at higher voltages compared to pure Jfet clipping. I haven't bothered with...

Peavey, Pavey, Pevy, or is it Pee-vee? One of my favorite amplifiers is still to this day the Peavey Bandit 112 I was gifted for a birthday. That was my first actual guitar amplifier, but even after having the chance of playing and owning fancier, more expensive, more tube amplifiers, I still come b...

Thanks for this awesome design dylan159. Your design / write-up is really well done and the addition of modulation great! I'm a big fan of PT2399 delays (I have clone of a Deep Blue Delay that I use regularly) so I did a quick PCB layout for your design that I'd like to share. I've verified this by...

Re: Unreleased circuits collection, part I

On "Violets are Blues" I'm curious about R5. I know it's a remix, but in every other BB schematic I've checked, R5 is 6.8k. It's probably not a big deal. Just checking if this could be a typo on the remix schem. It's not just that resistor, since I've scaled down all the impedances on one...

MXR M-151 Doubleshot distortion [schematic]

Intro Hi everyone! I had the chance to get my hands on the MXR Doubleshot for a little while, and found out there are no available schematics anywhere. It's nice to do some selfless circuit tracing once in a while, in the true spirit of FSB. Starting from what was known already, the Doubleshot is u...

Re: Blue Pilot, an integrated Blues Driver

I built a PCB from this, splitting the dual pot into separate boost and gain pots. Really nice stand-alone, and very nice for stacking without any diodes or transistors to influence the tone. I shared the schematic and gerber file here: https://github.com/szukalski/pedal-bluesheep Let me know if yo...
