I'd argue for the opposite. The phenolic stuff you can score and snap with a razor. The epoxy stuff you need to cut with a saw.

Re: Veroboard in the USA?

I had been using veroboard.com, which is out of canada, but they shipped quick and cheap. However, their site seems to be under construction now.

Re: Vintage/Whiteface Rat vs Modern Rat circuit question

That explanation also neglects that in early version, electrolytics in the signal path were tantalum, which will affect the output sound.

Re: what is the best breadboard for effect pedal experimenti

This is a question ive had for some time, as well. Is there like a Cadillac of breadboards? Like one manufacturer that just makes the best ones? Ive had several generic ones and some are good and some are bad. I'd like to have one thats awesome and will last me a while. I believe the 3M ones are th...

The most recent version (3.28.0) doesnt work with 10.9.2, i know that for sure. If you try to open it you get: "DIYLC is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash." As a workaround ive been using the multi-platform version here: https://code.google.com/p/diy-layout-creat...

GROSSLY overpriced. You can get a fantastic transformer set for that amp for 1/5 the price.

Re: Anyone cracked open on of those Electric Amps?

I've been curious about these too! Never seen any conclusive guts, but I somehow am under the impression that they're associated with Matamp. Don't know if there's any truth behind that though. Someone on the DAM forum posted a few schematics and they look an awful lot like a plexi front end on an ...

Anyone cracked open on of those Electric Amps?

Anyone? Ive seen some pics but nothing detailed enough to gather much info. Im curious if they stuck with the cathodyne PI from Orange/Matamp. I'm likely to believe that but theyve also got an extra preamp tube in there, which could speak to LTPI.

Re: tiny terror doubts

There are zillions of kits/build instructions out there for 18W Marshalls or the "18W Lite" circuit. These are cathode biased, 2xEL84 amps and the transformer sets for any of them would do you fine. Quickly looking at my usual transformer site I found these: http://www.classictone.net/40-1...

Stellar builds as always Tony. :applause: And hey, I live in your neck of the woods now (kind of). We moved to Jersey City from Montreal and I'm studying on Manahattan island. Interesting place you got here. NICE! Jersey City is cool as hell and super close and convenient to the city. You'r...

Re: Orange OD80 Scratch-ish build

I am having problems on finding schematics for the OD80. I only have one or two and none of them seems the "official". What version did you use? The only difference between the OR and OD circuits of the same era is the addition of a post-phase-inverter volume pot. The ODs may be a bit bri...

Pig! Major was just a plexi with a big back end but im gonna be building the three knob Pig version. I wont be doing the 200W back end on it, though. I think i might do it with 2xKT66 instead of 4xKT88.

The difference is in the naming scheme and marketing more than anything else.
