Re: Caline CP-29 White Heat [schematic]

Thanks for the tip, I was going to buy it from Amazon, but if I can get a discount on it from the publisher that's even better.

Re: Chyowngg Fuzz -- A distinctive double-octave fuzz [documentation]

I think it's fine as is, maybe add some buffers to it,and increase the volume control to 50k or 100k so it has some enormous volume boost available. You could also combine the switch into one with a dpdt on/on/on type to simplify it a little bit, or change them to drive/balance controls or combinati...

Interesting sounds out of it, synthesiserish. I like it. Did you do any hfe matching on the differential pairs? I'm curious what the hfe values are. Please continue experimenting with this circuit, I think you're really on to something unique here.

Re: Caline CP-29 White Heat [schematic]

What about the value of C5, do you keep it or adjust it? I would play with it to keep the same frequency response, I think they chose this value so it's a bit more flat vs .047 which has bass roll off when using a 7 string, I always forget these days that 7 and 8 string is a bit more popular than 2...

Re: Caline CP-29 White Heat [schematic]

Thanks phatt, excellent info. I think the pulldown resistor in the input is just to stop the switch from clicking from capacitive buildup of voltage since the LED is also going through it, or maybe backwards charge potential on the input cap, I remember popping being some issue with it. I'll try bui...

I do too mostly, so far only 2 duds out of about 50. Slowly been buying them all. A lot of the newer ones are just reboxes/repaints of the original series though.

Thanks for the tagboard.

I'd move that electrolytic farther away from the tube. It is a really nice overall design though.

Re: Need Help Debugging First Fuzz Face Build

The switch has been rotated 90 degrees so your wiring on it is wrong.

Re: Demon FX King Spark Overdrive [schematic]

It's definitely similar, but still different as the first gain stage is non-inverting and the treble control has 6.8nf caps, the other interesting thing is the 2n5457 on the output. That part is what I need to investigate as it seems to be missing a gate bias resistor. It may be hooked up as a gain ...

Nah, my King Spark, I've been busy so forgot to take it apart and verify the schematic.

Hrm no that looks more like a Morning Glory.

I need to take mine apart and trace it, I've just been super busy with repairs lately.

I don't think it changed at all from V1 except the enclosure and layout, or if it did it wasn't very much.

Re: Digitech - PDS 1002 Delay [schematic]

The connectors get dirty too check those and make sure they also have enough tension. Clean the switch. If it's not that maybe you have some bad ram or the selector has issues. Those caps I highlighted have something to do with all the delay modes and the middle one is often inserted backwards on th...

How do you figure? The Dist + is barely above unity gain, it's capable of being quite a bit louder than that.

Re: Stafford Maxon Hizbender 1944T

Kind of a cross between a sonic distortion sans tone control and a distortion +. It'll be brighter than a distortion + by quite a lot with the input .001 omitted and the 1.8K resistor rather than 10k. It'll have more distortion too. Too bad it's a 50k volume pot instead of 100k, the output will be w...

Thank you, I have both pedals, can verify this is the case.

Interesting to note the new Breaker Drive also has switch pads for two switches and is basically a Morning Glory V4.

2n5089's would probably help a bit and yeah the 150s or even 220s would help a little bit. It's a multistage high gain circuit, so it's just par for the course really.
