Re: Dumbloid [traced]
Hi, Since my last post I have experimented with adding 1N4001 diodes aross the feedback path on the first stage. I used 4 diodes in series and another 4 in series in the oposite direction (symetrical clipping) I also added a 15K ohm( fitted a 50K pot and adjusted it by ear) resistor in series with t...

Re: Dumbloid [traced]
Hi again, I decided to put one togethe, a couple of hours work. Yep ! it rattles well on the trailing edge, The offset I suggested didn't do anything to reduce the rattle on the firsts stage(already sitting at mid rail) but it did on the second stage when the ACCENT control was well advanced...........

Re: Dumbloid [traced]
Hi, Just a thought re fuzzy trailing edge, has anyone tried changing the mid rail point voltage (approx 4.5v) to a higher or lower value to see if an introduced offset lessens or worsens this decay artifact. I noticed the Hotcake effects pedal bias is about 20% offset...........this maybe for comple...

Re: Sequis Richter Control Attenuator
Hi, Thanks for the links. Certainly looks like a cut down version of the Sequis Mother load..........also interesting thread with RG albeit seemed to be all a bit at crossed purposes. I cobbled one up using an old mains transformer (230v-30v) I had and it seemed to work..............not with full fr...

Andy,
Yes............that is my understanding of how thw switching works.
I don't have the amp so I can't check it out to be 100% sure.........may be others with greater knowledge can chime in.
Cheers,

Re: Drive section of peavey Special 150
Hi, Looks to me that the EQ is essentually bypassed (swamped) by the rather large value cap switched in when in the Crunch mode. There would be very little or no effect by the tone circuit. I have seen this distortion schemo in an old practice amp of Asian origins, I will see if I can find it for co...

Silver,
Not a problem, plenty of scope here to do many configurations.
Maybe two gain controls and two o/p volume controls.

Silver,
Here is the last configurationn I tried, It may change as the project evolves.
I havn't had any time lately to finish it off.

Re: Dano Rocky Road In/Out Board - What's Going On?
Silver, I use two fine pointed soldering irons at each end of the component to remove it. You could use fine tweezers to grip the body and apply the iron to one end and then the other quickly. To insert the component the pads need to be clean and flat, I usually use a spot of contact glue to hold it...

Re: crate palomino v8
HI, If my menory serves me right I have had a couple of these amps (Palomino) suffering from HF oscillations. It's been a while so the brain is a bit foggy, but I do remember having to move the multiway ribbon cable that connects the pre amp to the power amp to the left and reroute the o/p trans wir...

Re: Rehousing a French Toast
Hi,
I did a rehouse a while back and did the F/SW mod to bring in the "Octave" as well as true bypass.
I reconfigured the Octave diodes to eliminate the "thump" when switching.

Hi,
Typo alert !!! I should have said "removed R26" for less treble.
I can draw up a diagram if anyone wants, just ask.
Cheers,
John

Re: Dano Rocky Road In/Out Board - What's Going On?
Hi, Thanks for the reply, since my last post I have made some changes to the RR mainly because of the poor signal to noise ratio. Sinse I was doing a rehouse and doing a true bypass and mounting external controls. I decided to leave the R44 alone and instead add a o/p vol control at the output of IC...
