Re: Soul Food modding a mod

Yeah just use a dpdt switch. Take wires from pads where diodes were on board and put them on lug 2 and lug 5 then add your pair on lug 1and lug 4 and another on lug 3 and lug 6 Kinda like the diagram in the lower part on this from Tagboardfx http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7A9KuTfiRJw/U9ud6caaG6I/AAAAAAAA...

Re: Barber - Small Fry [traced]

It does the same thing I just prefer to tie them together. Its a variable resistor that's all. Great pedal btw. And Mr barber is a champion among men that helps the DIY community when he can like Brian Wampler and Paul Cochrane so buy his pedals from him if you can. They are priced great

Re: Barber - Small Fry [traced]

Heya, I'm a newbie when it comes to these things but I have a hard time understanding some things here. On the original Small Fry the Tone Pot just has two lugs connected to the circuit (3 & 2) and the dynamics pot as well (although different ones 2 & 1) and on the veroboard layout (and the...

Take good pics of the front and back of the pcb. The guys here are experts at pointing out dodgy solder joints and other faults.

Re: Philly Fuzz Heretic

Looks like a hastily put together mkiii to my eyes. The real heresy is the resistors all crooked and the electrolytic caps all bent and smashed in there. If you wanna start go to the oshpark shared section and search fuzz because I believe I have seen that board before somewhere

Re: J201 stage working only after briefly touching the trann [SOLVED]

I had similar issues with a batch of sot23 2n4393 I put on adapter boards. Out of 25, 2 of them did this same exact thing. So I got some solder wick and pulled all the solder off , refluxed it with some old radio shack pine resin type flux and they work fine now. There was a tiny bead of solder on o...

Re: Budda - Om Overdrive [schematic]

I built a crush zone off Tagboardfx a while back and noticed the input cap at 220pf was WAY smaller than anything I've ever used so I swapped it out for a 8.2nf and it was slamming. Then put a hot 2n5485 in the fet socket and its been on my board ever since. Now knowing what the om is I wonder if th...

Re: Budda - Om Overdrive [schematic]

Well I KNEW I'd seen this odd arrangement somewhere. Its a Escobedo punch in the face betwixt the two opamp stages. Well Lo and behold its a damn near exact copy of the wonderful Carl Martin Crush Zone http://www.freestompboxes.org/download/file.php?id=28770&sid=e329ba123541eb9e67590b51b7e15595&...

Re: Rockfabrik - Mind Abuse Distortion

Now this makes WAY MORE sense. They let slip those early guts to muddy the water. Its a damn good thing we have people like Bajaman that keep up the search for these kinda things. One observation on the 2nd (Bajaman) gut shot: they used the tiny ass smd trim pots with Thru hole Fets. Am I the only o...

Re: mesa boogie throttle box diode substitute

good day can i use a germanium diode 1n60?? You can try whatever you like. It with these it will be a LOT quieter, and if yours are real germanium a lot smoother. I have a jig with a dip switch with these on it:1)2x1n270 symmetrical 2) 2x 1n5817 symmetrical 3)3x d18 asymmetrical 4) 2x 4148 symmetri...

Re: mesa boogie throttle box diode substitute

Greetings, Perhaps a 1N914? I've seen them listed as alternates for the 1N4148 in plenty of equipment. Good luck! Regards, Jim They're the same. 1n4148/914 are interchangeable. You might notice some difference with the 4148 and 1n4007 but I HIGHLY doubt that anyone could tell a 1n914 and 1n4148 apa...

Re: Peavey - Dual 212

I have the Ranger 212 and after looking at the schematic I see its VERY similar to the Duel, the Ranger is Ungodly loud with all 4 6L6 in place, But man it screams. It's a Twin reverb killer, and it was only $150 used at gc. Best money I've ever spent. Thanks for posting the Duel 212 schem.

Re: ***Fortin Grind Pedal***

I have nothing but pure speculation, BUT all the metal guys love the Maxon OD-820. Its high headroom and YATS but they don't care. in reviews and In the page where the big pic came from the owner put it next to one and said it has a bit more output, and the tone more range, but sounds pretty close. ...
