Re: Joyo - Vintage Overdrive

You're looking for a cap marked 473 connected to pin 2 of the op-amp chip. Either the square one or the one next to it on the left hand side of the board.

Re: Joyo - Vintage Overdrive

Find the inverting input of the first op-amp and it should be attached to that.

What a beautiful piece of work. I can't imagine what something like that would have cost at the time.

FUCKIN DAMN!! Relax already guys. Its a goddamned guitar pedal. Not the secret cure for cancer/AIDS/etc. A fucking guitar pedal. Re: Anyone know anything about assembling a CHEAP amp for vo

All it tells you is that too much of the signal is getting back into the microphone. It might even be to do with the natural resonances of an instrument amplifier being more easily transferred back into a microphone than they would be into an instrument. "Gain" is a much wider concept than...

Re: Anyone know anything about assembling a CHEAP amp for vo

Too MUCH gain? The pre-amp stage of a bass amp would have considerably less gain than a mic pre wouldn't it?

Re: modding a chinese rat to USA rat circuit

Louder as in at max volume or louder as in it gets loud much lower down on the volume knob?

You wouldn't expect a resistor to ground on the output to change much except the volume to be honest.

What are you using as your benchmark for "USA-rat" ness?

Is there a noise cost to that switching arrangement (PT2399 output always in the chain)?

No I agree it doesn't bother me, but the way TS was talking I thought he might be worrying about that kind of thing.

Funny story; the EU power constraints were decided as "The widest tolerance that doesn't require anybody to completely change their power architecture"... :applause:

Re: Need a unit to test and use Euro gear.

One has to accept the potential mains voltage variation really, the tubes might end up a little bit hot or cold but importantly using a transformer does NOT solve that issue Eh? Not quite following you there. You have got to plug the amp into approximately the voltage it is designed for, nominally ...

Re: UTsource/Ebay

There are no consistent sources of mn3005 in the whole world. Any consistent source is immediately bought out by someone with business sense. Most sellers do not test chips and might not even know they have fakes. The fakes get passed around and nobody wins.

Change the design.

Re: Pedal mixer/monitoring for live purpose?

If I were you and had the time to spare I would be building something like that myself since most mixers with separate primary and monitor mixes will be larger ones with many inputs. You could then build your unit much more compactly, with whichever connector terminations are most convenient to you....

Re: malekko chicklet (1590a SMD, esp for Dirk ;-) )

Why did they use the smallest possible resistors and not regular 1206, for example? wth They probably make lots of pedals that are much denser than this (616 maybe) and only want to stock one size. I think the patent application for the Belton thing has some circuit outline on how the PT's are hook...

Re: Digital potentiometer sourcing?

MAXIM only make them up to 100k; I honestly don't know that you will do any better than stacking a double chip (putting the two end to end and using the appropriate wiper) and that will get you 200k.

You may have to redesign your circuit around this limitation rather than look for an obscure part.
