Re: Skreddy says: "Caps matter!"

If so many do hear sonic differences there must be some thruth Many people think colds are caused by exposure to low temperature, drafts and such. Not to mention how many pray to imaginary friends. See argumentum ad populum . when you turn down your tone control, you obviously lower the highs, but,...

Re: Skreddy says: "Caps matter!"

Just to bash Mic  who doesn't think so  For a more useful answer : the difference between PIO or any other technology in guitars is : when you turn down your tone control, you obviously lower the highs, but, you retain a little brightness, you do not get a dull sound (what you get wi...

Re: Skreddy says: "Caps matter!"

By proof I don't mean someone saying "I swapped the ceramic disc to an orange drop in my Strat and it now sounds (insert all the usual adjectives)", see below. Just drop a PIO in your guitar, and you'll hear a difference (and i don't know why ) So assuming you've matched two caps with 1% ...

Re: Three-terminal regulators

Yeah; you can easily catch yourself out by for example putting 100n each side of the power supply, and then putting some massive cap by the circuit itself.

I used to put a 220u where the power joined the board and then the two 100ns across the regulator.

Re: Portable digial scope on ebay, what do you think?

Better than a signal probe but no good for testing your CPU performance! (Fine for a pedal)

Build yourself a little signal generator to go with it.

Re: Really BIG muff

I have 10 sets of big muff soviet PIO axial caps for approximately green russian spec, with genuine soviet silicon and germanium diodes. I'll check if they'll fit, and if they will I'll package them up to send off to you lovely people that fancy it. EDIT: Nope, this big muff is not big enough for th...

I had an LC15R and the effects loop was dreadful; you could at least make that true serial, and perhaps buffer it.
