Re: Analogman - King of Tone [traced]
I read through the whole thread but didn't see anything - just wondering - why the two 1uF caps in parallel on the output? Nobody knows this..... ... but what do you expect else from the "King of Solder-Jockeys" than: "cause they dont know what they are doing" ? Normally you can...

Re: Moollon - Class A Boost
I just got my Moollon Wah tonight, and I love it !!!! Its very well build, and the Poti action is just right. The sound is faboulous. I have a lot of wahs, and this one beats all. Soundwise its now in front of my Boomer2 and the Italian 71 Fasel Wah. Will take some pics tomorow and post them. I hav...

Re: Vox Wah - Early version
Nice! That wah is ancient, those are supposed to be the very first run handmade by the inventor of the circuit. Probably a $1000+ wah.

Re: Analogman - King of Tone [traced]
Thanks again for your contribution, looks like I should have looked at your mods more closely before posting. I have a GGG board, I'm going to try it out. I got some cool 1s1588 diodes, might try them for the 2nd set of clippers.

Re: Analogman - King of Tone [traced]
One question: according to the schem, the KOT has a 10k and a .1uf between the 2 gain stages, whereas the GGG Blues Breaker has 2).22 and 2) 4.7k (C6,C7 and R7,R8). These need to be changed too, no? Looks like the 47pf in the feedback loop of the GGG needs to be 100pf as well.

Re: Moog Ring Mod
I have one of these and the delay too, always wondered what the innards looked like. The ring mod is fun to mess with, play a blues lick and it comes out sounding like Steve Vai

Re: BBE - Sonic Stomp (Sonic Maximizer)
I had one of these for a little while, and the GreenScreamer too. I was surprised that they were built pretty well, not SMD. Looked like they could be modded easily. The Sonic Stomp sounded pretty good on clean guitar, kinda bad on anything distorted. Made other pedals sound very solid state and fak...

Re: Proco - Rat ( History )
There are definitely some wrong schems out there, but I think the input buffer thing may be correct. I have a late 80's "LED in A" Rat with TWO transistors + IC, leading me to believe it has an added input buffer. The earlier non-LED Rats had ONE transistor and were better sounding IMO. Gu...

Re: Analogman - King of Tone [traced]
For what it's worth, I have a KOT V4 here. I've messed with it a few times and it really doesn't do it for me. It's a good pedal and well behaved over the whole volume and gain range, seems quiet. I have a LP/Marshall kinda rig and it doesn't seem to work that well with it. Needs more lows i think. ...

Re: Clay Jones - 'Polished Turds' Multi FX (unreleased)
Bump for a funny title. Little surprised Clay would go to this much effort with the Dano pedals. I guess they could sound good if you work them over as he did.

Overview of available wah pots
Just for fun I thought I'd run down every available wah pot for reference: Dunlop Hot Potz 2: Avail. on Ebay for OK prices, this type is black and has 3 lugs on the BACK of the pot. Fulltone Clyde: This one is supposed to have the ICAR taper, made by Diva, kinda pricey at $25 or so. "Clyde"...

Guess Clay didn't like the LED clipping and went right for the symmetrical diodes. it looks to me like there are three diodes in the feedback loop. :) You might be right, I see 2 diodes clearly, can't really tell if it's a 3rd diode or straight wire in the 3rd socket. No LED's, that for sure- Guilt...

Note the 2 components off board by the input jack, I would guess these are a .22 cap and a 220 ohm resistor attached to the tone control, just like the Landgraff, who wires his just like this. Looks like a 1k/10k on the upper left to set the gain for the feedback loop. Guess Clay didn't like the LED...
