Re: Need help understanding this graphic EQ circuit
Okay, so which formula is used to calculate centre frequency for a given set of components? I've tried the one hosted at muzique.com and I've tried the one in the diagram above and neither seems to compute for the components specified.

Re: Need help understanding this graphic EQ circuit
Okay so what's the correct formula for this one? And where can I find out more about this type? When I google gyrators I don't find anything relevant, so please explain why you're so confident/provide some information about this type of gyrator so that I at least have a starting point. Is there a sp...

Re: Need help understanding this graphic EQ circuit
I've seen the components laid out in schematics of gyrators differently but if on looking at what's actually connected to what and where, I've found them all to be equivalent to one of the two in the second image I posted, though I'd love to be proven wrong and learn a new way of doing/calculating g...

Need help understanding this graphic EQ circuit
I'm looking to implement a 2 band graphic EQ that can both cut and boost. I happened across this geofex article that seemed to give me what I want, the article is here: http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/eqs/paramet.htm and this is the schematic: greq.gif But that's not really a gyrator, is it? I...

Re: pimp behringer sf300 superfuzz with univox superfuzz mod
The 1N60 diodes I have measure around 0.500 V, the last one I checked was 0.506. Are you sure those aren't 1N270? They both use the same large glass tubes.
Sweet mod though.

Re: Idiotboxeffects Blower Bass [traced]
The RAT throws a decent amount of volume, but one with a Bax and the same clipping level is going to put out somewhat less. Lifting the clipping threshold, removing the tone control, or adding a gain stage are your options for increasing the output, as there are currently no gain stages post-clippin...

Re: Idiotboxeffects Blower Bass [traced]
I recently did a RAT experiment with a 12 way rotary. For guitar I found that a pair of 1N60s in parallel had a completely unique tone that I really liked. If you've got 1N60s around, two in series for 1N914 will give you 2V headroom, which is on par with a 1N34A + mosfet, and might be similarly dis...

Re: Idiotboxeffects Blower Bass [traced]
I find where a single 1N914 is used in a guitar pedal, to get to a bass version of that you have to not just increase your input/output caps and look at how any filtering is done, but you also need to increase the clipping threshold. Parallel 1N914s give you about 1.4V p-p. The MOSFET+diode combinat...

Re: A completely different etching technique
How easy is it to get a deep etch with that technique? It looks like it etches pretty cleanly, which is always a challenge with FeCl - it can be tricky to get it diluted just right so that it doesn't boil and make a huge dangerous mess with large pieces of aluminum. But is it quick? And can you get ...

Re: DOD FX76 Punkifier [schematic]
Yeah, like Devi ever figured out how to implement an op amp :P The Punk control is neat. The signal splits into a mu-amp on one side and an op amp on the other. Each one hits an identical set of clipping diodes (to ground, not neg feedback), and the Punk control is a blend between either side. Looks...

A completely different etching technique
Has anyone tried the technique shown here? http://makezine.com/projects/make-40/etch-a-kettle/ Basically you combine vinegar and salt, attach the item to be etched to the + of a 9V battery, attach a q-tip to the - pole (exposed wire wrapped tight around the cotton part), dab the cotton in your salt/...

Re: School me on clipping
S3.A on A.3B on the sx200 schematic is neat. Adds a filter to the negative feedback loop, doesn't it? But only sends part of the signal through it. R56 and R57 appear to form a voltage divider.

Re: Fuzz Face - any risk of frying a transistor with bias po
2SC645 is rated for an Hfe of 100. Which is right in the range of where people often like Fuzz Face transistors to fall most times. Sometimes a higher gain second transistor is good. But by luck the transistors you scavenged are a good fit for that circuit.

Re: i got a OT for cheap
12AX7 is only rated for 300V. People run them way higher but I don't know about 600V and running the plate voltage above spec does cut down their life, doesn't it? I think power tubes are usually run at 350-450V too. Burning your preamp tubes faster than usual is one thing, but I wouldn't want to go...

Re: Pedal Projects needs your help!
You're running a business. So sell a product people want, save the profits, and invest when you're ready. If your business can't raise the money and you can't get a bank to loan you the money, you probably actually aren't ready. And sorry, you seem nice enough, but I'm not giving you my money for a ...

Re: PCB Fab Houses
http://www.OSHPark.com $5/sq inch of 2 sided PCB gets you 3 copies of that layout OR $1/sq. inch, min order of 150 sq. inch, as many different boards as you like but you need to order multiples of 10 of each board. So if you have 3 designs that are 5 sq. inch each you could get 10 of each to qualify...

Without having any technical information to base this on and going solely by what I and people I've known have done out of ignorance in the past, you're probably not going to have trouble convincing MOST solid state bass amps made by reputable manufacturers to drive 4 ohms. Even if it doesn't have a...

Yeah. But you should be able to hook up an extension cab, and that will def increase your volume.
