That's correct.toneman wrote:So....the dual diodes labeled D6 and D7 on the original pcb are the diodes in the feedback path of U2.1?
(they are now labeled D3, D4, D5, D6 on the Thermonic Build pdf)??
all the other diodes are LEDs....(?)

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
Yes that is correct. I'm working on verifying the trace against the original pedal this morning, but so far my PCB is correct.
Also worth mentioning, this isn't my schematic, I simply redrew the one posted earlier in the thread (by you and pakrat I believe).

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
Hello bugg - well that is peculiar because the code marking for the BAV99 is 7E according to that datasheet and 1A7 on the ZXTP25015DFH datasheet. This picture clearly shows the 1A7 code marking on the two mystery components, but i am not arguing with your measurements  Just to clarify, I can...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
Good find! I have the original pedal sitting in front of me, so lets move on to the mystery diodes. The pinout (going by measuring forward voltage drops with the diode function of my Fluke DMM) matches that of the BAV99 dual diode not the ZXTP25015DFH (or any other BJT, there is no "Base" ...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
out of sheer curiosity, why did you not open up your pedal and take pictures or perhaps retrace the board by yourself that way bugg would not have to purchase his own? We've come to the point where I really just wanted to see the thing for myself. I didn't want to borrow one because I don't need th...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
Once I have the original in hand I will remove the pots, take photos of both sides of the board, retrace the entire circuit, then remove one of the diode/transistors in question and determine what we're dealing with. I'll leave the pedal dissected until there's no more doubt so I can reverify any qu...

I'm looking now, if I can come across one of these in the $150 range I'll buy it and we'll put an end to this madness. there's one on Ebay right now for $149.99 + shipping https://www.ebay.com/itm/FRIEDMAN-BE-OD-OVERDRIVE-GUITAR-PEDAL-DEMO-NOS/382163345294?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=...

Schematic (for PCB) has been updated with reference designators.

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
I know of four people (including myself) who have built the pedal from my PCB and been satisfied with the results. The controls all behave as expected and the noise floor is reasonable for a pedal with this much gain. I can't confirm nor deny bajamans comments, the guy knows his stuff and I'm not go...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
The presence control works properly on the one I built... Maybe others can chime in when they get theirs assembled.
Oscillations have been confirmed on the original unit with Gain / Trim maxed, I have the trim at just above 50% and there is no oscillation with the gain cranked wide open.

Awesome guys, I appreciate it! An order of PCBs just came in today so most will be shipping this afternoon when I get home from work, the rest should be on their way in about a week. Everything should be fairly self explanatory but don't hesitate to shoot me a message if you have any questions or pr...

Re: Lovepedal - Dover Drive [traced]
Got two PCB layouts worked up, getting ready to order a small batch. :thumbsup On one I've substituted the 81.2K and 121K resistors with a series pair (75K + 6.2K, and 120K + 1K respectively) to make parts sourcing a bit easier. On the other I've replaced them with a 25-turn trim pot, this should al...

The most recent schematic (as well as the layout/build info) is available at the bottom of this page: http://www.buggfx.com/product/thermionic-distortion-pcb/ Checking the build doc and really no way to tell what components go where since the schematic/BOM only has values and PCB has RefDes :hmmm: ...

Re: Friedman BE-OD Pedal [traced]
I had some PCBs fabricated based on the most recent schematics, built one today. Sounds fantastic! It's been a few months since I owned the original so I can't give an A/B comparison but all of the controls seem to react as expected and the thing sounds massive . Plenty of gain (with trim at 50%) an...
