Re: ProCo - You Dirty Rat - exactly, which diodes?

All that and still no answer about which diode is "right". :( But a good bit of information nonetheless ! Thank you for that. I'll have a peek inside my SOLO and Juggernaut this weekend to see if I can spot what's going on in there and have a good look at the pot codes as well. Any bit of...

Re: MXR - Microamp [schematic]

I just might go and do that, drewl ! I just might. :thumbsup But before I start ordering a board and components, I would really like to hear from our members with more knowledge and experience than myself if it's worth the effort or not. After all, the OD-855 is very much intended to be a dirty peda...

Re: MXR - Microamp [schematic]

Hello lads, Just thinking out loud here. Perhaps it's a brainfart, perhaps it's not. I haven't forgotten about the modified Micro Amp from this thread and the improvements our forum brother ggedamed suggested. Since the MXR Micro Amp M133 is basically a cleaned up Distortion+ M104, it can be easily ...

Not PCB mounted, not located in Europe, but the only DPDT momentary soft touch switches I could find.

Does anybody have a vero board layout for the quad opamp version and true bypass? Hey rose, this should do the trick. Re: Cornish P-2 guts

The schematics Ulysse.Gaunarol and Brian the Mad Bean have posted are nearly identical to Sovtek Muffs. http://www.bigmuffpage.com/Big_Muff_Pi_versions_schematics_part3.html Different transistors, of course. The feedback caps are 560pF instead of 430, 470 or 500pF and the cap on the HPF side of the ...

Re: Cornish P-2 guts

That description of the tone pot on the P-1 suits the schematic a lot better. Most peculiar! On the other hand, I've done a little digging on TGP and found Ted Witcher posted photographs of his board before and after the P-2 was rehoused. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/show-your...

Hi Andy, All I had as a source is this quote from page 3 of this thread that goes with the first schematic. Paul Garrison gave it to me. He works in L.A at Truetone Music in Santa Monica He did the rehousing of the Ted Witcher's P-2: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=77919&page=2...

Re: Pete Cornish P-2

I see the schematic posted by Ulysse.Gaunarol is no longer on ImageShack, so I attached it. Mind you, the .0010 cap on the high pass filter on the tone pot is a typo, this should be .01µF instead. Also attached is a schematic posted by Brian the Mad Bean himself on the MBP forum. Brian says he can't...

Re: Cornish P-2 guts

The blokes over at effectslayout have done the P-2 and have included the buffer. http://effectslayouts.blogspot.com/2018/12/cornish-p2-probably.html Two components are different from the schematic posted earlier in this thread. The collector resistor in the recovery stage (12k instead of 10k) and th...

MadBeanPedals has a lot of VFE projects already, you can find them on the bottom of this page in this link. http://madbeanpedals.com/projects/index.html Peter is closing down VFE for very understandable reasons. Let's be thankful for all that he has done and hope everything will work out for his fam...

Re: MagnaWatt 1Watt tube amplifier development thread

Since nobody's going to stomp on it, why not look beyond the die cast stomp box enclosures and use something that already looks like an amp head? Hammond has some really nice chassis with optional perforated covers. https://www.hammfg.com/electronics/small-case/chassis/1441 Then you can also have a ...

Re: Rams Head Big Muff 2N5133, FS36999 hFE notes

If you build your "Ram's Head" BMP with a CA3046, you'll get a great sounding pedal. I have used the "spare" transistor to add an optional bootstrapped buffer / pre-amp stage before the input of the main effect. This gives proper buffered bypass. Sounds neat! That spare transist...

Re: Help on custom bass wiring (3 x pickups)

Hello and welcome to the forum. It's a bit late for my tired eyes, but I will say this. Please suggest your mate to use a blend pot with a center detente for the parallel bridge pickups setting. That would make thing dialling in the right mix of the two pickups a lot more intuitive. On top of that, ...

Re: marshall mg15cd guitar amp

Sorry, mate! I don't know enough about solid state amps to be of any help here. But before you start ordering all the parts, perhaps it would be wise to compile a list of the costs first. There are plenty of secondhand MG amps on the market and building a clone of one might be a lot more expensive t...
