Re: ADD A+B TO A A/B PEDAL - HELP MODDING

The question Deltafred was asking was not about the switch itself (btw this one for sure will not fit in such a small box), but what you want to achieve with it. As is, this pedal already allows you to connect alternatively two guitars to an amplifier (A or B -> Out) or one guitar to two amplifiers ...

It looks a bit like a common-base configuration to me.

Re: Does Ground reference always need to be 0 Volts?

Does Ground reference always need to be 0 Volts? It is just that : a reference. So by definition , ground is zero volts, because you measure anything else from that reference. What you want is to have no DC offset at the signal input and output of the pedal. That's why most pedal, using a +/-4.5V s...

Re: BAJA Ampeg SVT bass amplifier pedal 9v 010418 [documentation]

It means that it will be very stable, over a wide range of current drawn. On the contrary with a simple resistor divider, the actual bias voltage will depend on the current consumption at this point. You can look at it as a (possibly variable) impedance in parallel with the lower resistor, changing ...

Re: Amazonbasics - Overdrive

PCB already means "printed circuit board" ... If you think of so-called "hybrid" technology, where laser-trimmed resistors are deposited on a ceramic substrate, it's already in use in some pedals, such as those from Tech21. https://www.aurel.it/nuovo/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/th...

Re: Amazonbasics - Overdrive

I suppose Ibanez, Boss, etc. could do the same thing (develop a line of ultra cheap pedals), They did. Remember the Ibanez Soundtanks ? With modern production techniques, and the high production volumes required for it, producing simple electronic gizmos such as stompboxes is cheap. The thing is, c...

Re: Joyo Ultimate Drive Mod for bass guitar

I've been using the Ultimate drive on bass as-is, and it works quite well already, especially in the "low" setting.
In addition (as i'm adding a fuzz that eats all the low-end) i've built a simple blender pedal.

Re: amp differences

To simplify a lot, there are a certain number of gain stages, and filtering/attenuation at and between these gain stages. The gradual distortion of a gain stage will vary, as bajaman said, with tube type, voltage, and how it is biased (the signal will "hit the wall" on one side or the othe...

Re: Darkglass Electronics - Microtubes B3K [traced]

No one is talking about a non-inverting 4049 here, there is no such thing. This is about buffered or not. One inverting CMOS cell would make a non-buffered inverter , e.g. found in a 4049UBE. Two inverting CMOS cells would make a non-inverting buffer , e.g. found in a 4050. Three inverting CMOS cell...

Hmmm, definitely not Harley Benton, but Behringer. And that schematic comes from here. And it was drawn by me . The hex inverters are used for driving the LEDs that are used by the opto circuit (in parallel for higher current), and to invert the control signal to the bypass JFETs. An adjustable RC f...

Their main power supply puts out 9.6V : https://shop.ehx.com/item/eu9.6dc-200/guitar-effects-pedals-power-supplies-europe/ (there are others 9.0V, but with a minijack connector for older BigMuffs) Maybe this is a way to "encourage" customers to buy their power supplies instead of a generic...

[smilie=a_holycrap.gif] OMG, why? It must have taken ages to copy this info in Excel. Please make yourself a favor, and use CAD software to draw schematics. Many are free. Or even simpler, give a direct link: https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Practical-Electronics/70s/Practical-Electronics-1979-04-S-...

Re: Behringer VM1 Vintage Time Machine

Do I lose the led indication in the process, as was mentioned in the post you linked? Yes, the wiring i've devised yesterday is indeed identical to the previous post. It's only logical. X7 pin 1 to effect send, Nope, this is the output of the effect. X7 pin 2 to output, That would work. X7 pin 3 to...

Re: Behringer VM1 Vintage Time Machine

It's just a matter of re-wiring the connectors between the jacks PCB and the footswitch PCB. Referring to the schematic above : - disconnect X6 pin 1 and X7 pins 3, 4 and 5 : this disconnects the tone-sucking input and the LED control. - connect X8 pin 1 to X1 pins 3 and 4 : this connects the input ...

Re: Joyo - JF-13 AC Tone [schematic]

I was wondering about the addition of FX loop to the pedal, so that the pedals in the loop are placed after the preamp section rather than just placing them after the cab sim(as in after the entire pedal without a loop built in). This would then put the EQ after the loop as well, i'm not sure this ...

Re: Reduce Wiring Noise: Avoid Magnets

It would act exactly as the coil wire : unshielded wire bathed in the magnetic field of the pickup. The baseplate is usually non-magnetic (with the notable exception of many Telecaster bridge pickups), so the mangnetic field passes through. Re: Reduce Wiring Noise: Avoid Magnets

Its lead wires are unshielded. Yep, that would be the main culprit. Afaik, the pickup works with alternating magnetic filed, that is created by string vibration - string is made of a metal with magnetic properties, magnetic field is induced into it through pickup poles, when the string is moving, t...

Re: Circuit for a Blackstar Fly 3 watt amp?

I'll try to get hold of the Blackstar extension speaker (FLY103) cabinet for this amp and open that up to see if it also has an amp. One quick way to check this possibility is to trace the signals going to the extension connector. Most probably there are the same four as the ribbon going to the amp...

I don't know why R20 is connected in that way. I would expect this kind of filter topology : https://www.petervis.com/record_players_and_turntables/baxandall/baxandall-circuit-design/baxandall-circuit-design.gif with both R at the top being R19 and R20, and the treble pot being replaced by R1 and R2.
