Re: Behringer - Vintage Phaser VP1 - True Bypass Mod
I found an R10 in my VP-1 of course, but it's 30k and the most annoying is that it's a strange resistor, I'm a novice and I counted 8 legs around the little resistor… The part numbers are likely to be different on a different board layout. It happens that both R10 in Tonepad schematic and mine are ...

Re: Blackstone Appliances - MOSFET OD (2SV3.12) [ goop-alar [traced]
I finally made it, but when I play it makes a weird and very low "noise"... it seems that something is not cooperate...maybe something has burned up. I checked with the multimeter and all the rows of the vero have voltage and the ICs are working properly. Does anyone have a clue on what i...

Re: Best Guitar Mods?
Basically, the most interesting mods i did are splitting humbuckers, and putting single coils in series. My old Epiphone SG also has a switch for both pickups in series (Very fat !), and did benefit a lot when replacing pickups with SD (no more squealing at high volume, and useable neck pickup). I r...

Re: I'm creating a development platform for DIYers and more.
How wide and far apart are the contact strips? If possible, you'd probably do good to make it so you can just pop a hunk of vero in the console. Exactly what i was thinking about. That would really make it DIY-friendly. About the pinout : No provision for (pseudo-)stereo effects, side chain, or expr...

Re: I'm creating a development platform for DIYers and more.
Definitely a great idea, provided that the interface between the cardridge and the base pedal is an open standard and remains such. There would then be two separate markets : One for the utility boxes with jacks, pots and switch. There would be both cheap chinese version for bedroom players, and pre...

Re: Ibanez RGA32 : broken active pickups ?
The guitar now works fine, for no apparent reason ! :slap: I was playing it for a while, in all its sputtery fizziness, when i noticed some rythmic clicks. Like a starved charge pump desperately trying to oscillate. And suddently, it stopped. And i had a nice, clean tone. I suppose that the batterie...

Re: Problem with push/pull wiring
In the meantime, you may experiment with your push-pull switches. You can use them to wire both pickups in series for a big fat sound, or out-of-phase for thinner sound.

Re: Problem with push/pull wiring
I want to put on my Les Paul 2 push/pull volume pots [...] but my pickups are single-conductor, so what should i do? This is not possible without modification of the pickups. You may open the pickups (unsolder metal cover if any, remove tape on coils, be carful not to damage the coils) and find the...

Ibanez RGA32 : broken active pickups ?
Hi folks, My bandmate recently bought a guitar second-hand, an Ibanez RGA32, with a beautiful natural mahogany finish and active Ibanez LZ3 pickups. The problem is the sound of it : it sounds like a starved fuzz, if at all ! :( It happened right after the replacement of the batteries (2 x 1.5V AA), ...

Re: Behringer BSY600 Bass Synthesizer
IIRC the ATMega can be reprogrammed with the ISP anytime.
BUT if the lock bits are set, you can't readback the program. You have to erase the whole Flash to reset the lock bits.
This is intended to forbid reverse-engineering of the program but one could still load his own firmware.

Re: Strat noise
Anyways, I see I have 500K pots with the .033 cap. But a lot of the wiring diagrams I see online use 250K pots with a .022 cap. Is there much difference in sound with these two different types? Ir does this not matter much? Traditionally, 500k is used for humbuckers and 250k for single coils. This ...

Re: EH BASSBALLS MOD/s (Those crazy synth bastards... )
Jim- what value resistor & cap do I use (for the fast/slow mod)? I've used 330 ohms and 10µF. Experiment ! ...also, is the EH PCB the same as the Behringers, as far as part locations? (because I couldn't tell where they were, from the pics I saw  ). Thanx for the help. No the...

Re: Strat noise
And if you look closely at the stock Strat wiring, you can see that the pot casings wires added with the - famelic - aluminium shield sticked to the pickguard offer two different paths to reach the same single ground point. In my Telecaster, there is a ground wire running between the pots, even if ...

Re: Strat noise
(forget star ground wiring  ) How come this can be worse than the stock wiring from a grounding point of view? At least it gets rid of ground loops? Re: Behringer BSY600 Bass Synthesizer
I'm interesting in getting one of these pedals for some hackery (considering its similarity to the line6 tcddk), I would suggest getting one of the delays, reverb or pitch shifter, for the presence of external memory. Then it depends on the number of knobs, switches and either stereo input or mono ...

Re: danelectro fab tone
This reminds me to document the mods i've done to this beast ... It's a mainstay on my pedalboard now, so i'm digging into my memories. IIRC, i removed just one clipping diode, changed the gain pot wiring to be more progressive (look at a Marshall Shredmaster schematic), removed J6 (taking the bass ...
