Mnay thanks, I can get hold of the NE5534 so I'll give that a shot.

Re: Mad Professor Forest Green Compressor [traced]

Anyone aware of any decent sub suggestions for the AD797?

I'm guessing a 741 would be quite junky - what about a TL081? TL071?

Re: Any verified sources of MN3005s?

Thanks for the reply and that's a useful thread. Ah well that scotches that then!

I wonder where the people that are building their MN3005 versions managed to get them from!

Any verified sources of MN3005s?

Hi,

I've built a Madbean DirtBag Deluxe with v3205s and I've got the bug and am keen to build an MN3005 version - but am clueless as to where to start trying to find some legit MN3005s - does anyone have any recommendations?

Cheers
M

Here's my stab at a veroboard layout. Unverified so any build reports and corrections would be gratefully received

updated verified layout:

Just ordered my PCB (and the CurrentLover) - really looking forwards to building these for myself.

Re: Fulltone - RTO ( Robin Trower Overdrive )

Personally I had no success with the bass knob, it just gave a thumpy oscillation, but I couldn't see where I had gone wrong compared to Madbean's "T-Bagger" schematic. YMMV.

No, there was actually a fairly obvious problem around the collector of Q3.

Try this one.

Re: BJF - Honey Bee Overdrive degooped [traced]

Yes, just leave it hanging.

With the pots upside down in the case and the lugs facing downwards, from left to right we number them 3, 2, 1 or Hot, Wiper, Ground (after a typical volume control setup)

I would just use this layout instead of mine if I was you. Mark has done a good job (better than me)

Remember the extra switch on some clones of the Formula No 5? Could work here as well...

Built it yourself, and if you have issues, debug them from the schematic compared to the veroboard layout.

This is pretty likely to be PaulC's Timmy if the Amp Eleven is anything to go by?

Yeah, the OpenHaus hates charge pumps - either plump for 9V (sounds fine) or 18V via a proper supply if you need the headroom.

did you have the transistors in reversed? collector to ground, emitters to the positive voltage? if you had it bread-boarded and tore it apart, wait unitl we come up with the 4 transistor model it looks like a better circuit.. sorry about the tube screamer comments..i hate tube screamers, its proba...

Re: Death by Audio - Fuzz War [traced]

Well consider me schooled! My frustration with this pedal came from building one and struggling manfully to get anything decent out of it without extensive changes. Maybe I missed something stupid. I appreciate all your responses and the tech insight. I'm not a fan of the Tubescreamer though, so cou...

Re: Death by Audio - Fuzz War [traced]

It's a horrible pedal, just build something else. Literally anything is better.

Or stick a load of misbiased booster stages into one another. Same thing.

Re: Toneczar Openhaus [gut shots, schematic, layout] [traced]

how about the LND150 then? Can it be substituted with something more readily available? I tried searching for it in all the shops i know off, including musikding.de, tayda, banzai, uk-electronics, and some of the large dealers like farnell and such. I can only find it at Mouser, meaning i have to o...
