Re: Schematic to switch FX front/back of chain

- If you have 2 outputs of stompboxes, can you just mix them without any special electronics. Ie. just connect them with a Y connector. Will this result in a nice 50/50 mixed signal or will the outputs effect eachother? Especially the case where one stompbox is 'silent', will it affect the signal o...

Re: Distortion Effects Philosophy and Design

Do you have any sources where I can read more about such a design? Especially if it has some technical analysis of exactly what's going on in the circuit? This is the first I've heard about using an audio-cable to deliver power. Check out Tillman's FET cable: http://www.till.com/articles/PreampCable/

This.

See the first link: there's an example that uses zeners instead of R7 to stabilize the screen voltage.

That said, leaving out R7 will probably work as well, but that was not sinner's question ;)

It sets the screen voltage (together with R6). Check Merlin's page about pentodes: http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/pentode.html
I would totally do her if she were in my age range.

Re: Bootstrap Master Volume

If I get you right, it won't drive my amp into sweet and silky distortion? ;) "It depends" :P Damn, so back to the PPIMV then It seems that this one has a different use-case than the PPIMV. This is a replacement for the standard MV (2nd schematic, normal MV is removed) while the PPIMV wor...

Re: Bootstrap Master Volume

This way you won't get more clipping of the PI, which seems to be one of the points (the whole point?) of a PPIMV. Think JCM800 on low volume.

Re: Catalinbread Pareidolia Harmonic Mesmerizer [traced]

Measuring pin 2 of the XR2206, it seems to be cycling from about 3.5V to 4V. At pins 1 and 7 of the op-amp I see a constant 3.8V. Question: Does the output of XR2206 seem about right? If so then there must be some problem in the connection between pin 2 of the XR2206 and the op-amp, would that seem...

Are you sure this is the pedal? This looks more like the dirt channel of one of the heads that the Agro pedal is supposed to be based on. Symmetric power, 'channel' and 'deep' switches, FMV stack and all...

Re: ISP Decimator G-String II

Soooooo... you're posting on forums to make friends to show your private stuff to. Makes sense. :slap: No, I'm not expecting any explanation. And if you read carefully, you'll notice I haven't called you names and nowhere did I ask for explanations. Just wondering out loud what you expect to get out...

Re: ISP Decimator G-String II

Quite a bit of drama for somebody who wanted to be 'somewhat anonymous'. I am interested in getting this pedal built. Im not afraid to say it. So lets get on with it! The past is history... lets get to sharing and building folks! Not until Frank White decides you are worthy. Let's get to be nice to ...

Re: ISP Decimator G-String II

Dear Frank White, as long as you only talk and show nothing, it's only logical that people start to think the things that they think. I see no reason why you would keep us lukewarm with promises of a schematic and a layout but deliver nothing! Either keep your mouth shut and present it when it's fin...

Re: ISP - Decimator [traced]

I recently posted some info on the VCA part of the Decimator in another thread here and it's *possible* that getting a naive copy of the original pedal to work straight off the bench may be a matter of luck as much as anything else. Hopefully my post will kickstart some possibilities that will redu...

Good point, I would at least put caps over the Vrefs, in addition to the ones over V+/GND next to the opamps.

Re: Amptweaker - Tight Metal [traced]

Plus maybe a stability thing (well, that's what you said), and you only need to route two busses around (+V and GND) instead of three. Stable Vrefs are very important.

Re: ISP - Decimator [traced]

There's a patent on their "vector" envelope follower and while there's no law against analysing how it works (indeed, you only have to look up the patent - US 6,944.305), but knocking up boards in public is probably sailing a bit close to the wind. Still, posting schematics and self-desig...

Re: Amptweaker - Tight Metal [traced]

Yeah I use the same style, but with lugs.

I already fixed the resistor thing in mine, I bridged X4 to make the top connect to the signal line and soldered the output-ground directly to the ground trace.

Re: Amptweaker - Tight Metal [traced]

ok, I corrected that 100k resistor on mine and noticed no difference, at all? Hmmmm? :hmmm: If you use non-isolated jacks it won't make a difference on the sound because you short it out, it will only make a difference for the pop-suppression (what the 100k was for). In my case (isolated jacks) I w...

Re: Amptweaker - Tight Metal [traced]

Has anybody else built this "successfully" besides myself? I built rcustoms corrected layout today. I found an error in the layout (and in the schematic) : the output-ground (pad X4-2) is connected to the wrong side of the 100k resistor, and that resistor should then go to the output-sign...

Re: Adding bass & treble controls

A lot of players want heaps of mid which might sound kool in the bedroom but it actually clutters the sonic effect way to much and you end up with cheap fuzz box over cluttered mud when you play at loud gig levels which is fine if all you do is play power chords but leaves little note definition fo...
