Re: Brown Paxolin 15" wide space vero for sell

Hey guys, Some people here reacted like total dicks when he disappeared. If you are one of those people you should be ashamed of yourself for not giving him the benefit of the doubt. Especially when I and others offered to compensate you for any small loss you might have incurred by not getting Pax...

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

A theoretical gain of 3 dB, in a heavily clipped and distorted circuit, is by no means the same as an actual 3db of gain. Remember also that PSpice is a simulation.. very good, but it has certain limitations. For me the "meme" in this is the commonly held belief that transistor type and ga...

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

With gain of around 30dB per stage.. (and again a heavily diode clipped circuit), I wonder if an extra 1 dB is significant. Quote from R.G... re: Muff Gain: Q. What's happens if hfe is lowered/increased? A. Very little. With hfe over about 100, almost nothing. One reason this kind of circuit is used...

Re: Cornish G2 - Guts, Schematic, Layout (from Tracer's Fund [traced]

Interesting.....it just seemed like the gain values were so close that they must have been selected. I'll take another look at mine and see they are that tightly matched by random selection. It would make things much easier just to buy a quantity of 549s and have it with no wasted units. Do you thi...

Re: Retro Channel - The Fuzz [traced]

Just noticed that the BYOC Large Beaver kit includes an option to build a Swollen Pickle version of the circuit with the array (included in the parts kit): http://www.buildyourownclone.com/beaver.html That version of the kit has been for sale since 2007. Maybe BYOC will release a kit for the time m...

I know. I already couldn't help myself. :D i too await the responses the fanbois will be giving in a few secs! despite all our (well not mine, i have almost none :D ) scientifical knowledge, on TGP the OD eleven will continue to "sound nothing like a timmy" :horsey: it will al...

I know. I already couldn't help myself. I like what you posted.. I tried to read that thread, but my head started to hurt from the level of stupidity. I worry that the number of dumb members at TGP has driven most of those with an intelligent opinion and something worth saying. Most the guita...

Once again we see.. Sean has no scruples whatsoever.
Once again.. Paul gets screwed.

The fact is.. he got away with it once and made $$'s.. so why wouldn't he do it again.

Re: Zwedge steel enclosures? and drilling steel?

Use a step drill !
Every time you use a conventional twist drill you risk it grabbing and doing damage to the box and yourself.
A twist drill is designed to pull itself into the work.. this is not a good thing when dealing with sheet metal.

Re: Strat Tone Control Mod Ideas?

I wired them in series specifically to add their output, not divide it. But I understand what you're saying, I had to hit the strings really hard to get them to flash so it took a lot to reach the bias voltage. This is an entirely passive setup in both guitars by the way, passive pickups with all p...

Re: Retro Channel Trouble Booster..

Thanks for the pics. I'm close to have a basic schem drawn, but I miss some connections for pin 8, 9 and 11 of the IC. Pin 11 and 8 are supposed to be biased in some way, and pin 9 has to reach something. These connections are likely under the IC, so could you try with a continuity tester? Also, fr...

Re: Retro Channel Trouble Booster..

That board could be tiny if it weren't for the onboard switch. Yes, the whole point of SMD is to reduce the size of things.. and yet here we have a simple circuit in a large box for no reason. As well, the knobs completely cover the labels when at 12.00.. not very well thought out, given all that r...

Retro Channel Trouble Booster..

OK guys, took a look inside & removed goop, but haven't traced it yet. It's seems it's another transistor array setup similar to the Fuzz (sorry "proprietary chip" ). If anyone is so inclined.. please make a start as I'm not sure when I can get it done. I'll check pots, and a...
