Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Some progress made... It's phasing but it is very subtle, so much so that the knobs and switches are not producing distinct audible changes. There is distortion on some settings. My bias voltage seems very low, about 2v, I've replaced the 33uF and double checked the bias resistors (10k and 15k) with...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Ok, I've done some more work on this and managed to make the board a little smaller also. I will resist posting it until I've tested it myself. There's still the question of the trim pot and it's value. I found this on another thread: "We set the trimpot so that the user is able to go just a bi...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Ok, this is good. I'll make adjustments to the schematic. I found a few errors: R35 is 3K3 not 33K and R34 is 22k not 27k (i'm sure it would work with either 22K or 27K). Also had to re-connect some of the pins around IC3 as I only just spotted the notes on the ggg small stone reference schematic re...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Thanks for the replies folks. I went over the gutshots again and think I might have it drawn up wrong. Would this make more sense? https://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c143/ringworm_1974/whetlevel.png Still no supply connected here, hard to figure from the photos as I think there must be supply, groun...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Unless I am looking at an out of date schematic, D3 is the wrong way round, could be one reason why it is not working ringworm. Yeah, I've seen it the other way round in other effects, I omitted it when I did the build and it still doesn't work. Going by the gut-shots on the first page it's meant t...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

I've populated my board (minus trimmer) and will wire it up this weekend if I get a chance. The zener is static protection for the 2n7000 and can be anything over 9v I guess, better to be safe than sorry, I've put in a 10v. The Soulsonic Mosfet booster which can be found on this forum uses a 12v mem...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

When can we expect this layout? Right about now. http://www.divshare.com/download/14247337-3dd The zener needs to be able to handle full voltage so anything above 9v will do I think. Still no value for the trimmer. This is unverified I was gonna try and get round to building it, then post it, but f...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Am nearly finished the layout, just double checking my voltage, bias and ground connections from schematic to board. I'm still missing a number of part details: the value of the trimmer and the zener diode. Would anyone with a better working knowledge of electronics (that's everyone) be able to tell...

Re: EAGLE CAD CA3094E & NE5517 Collector Output question

That's just it, it's not. Here's a shot of my work in progress on the package design. Where 8 is currently connected to the input of the darlington buffer it should be connected to the sink output/collector. I redesigned the darlington buffer but as a result because there are only 8 pins it would no...

EAGLE CAD CA3094E & NE5517 Collector Output question

I'm trying to make a CA309E4 part for a project in EAGLE and have come up against a problem. I'm working from a library called ota.lbr (available for download at the EAGLE CAD website). What I have noticed is that it seems to be impossible to have enough connectors in a DIL8 package to include the +...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Other side of the world in the much less sunny Northern Ireland.
Found that pic in someones photobucket account, they had all of culturejam's gutshots in their album too (it might even be his!). Don't suppose you took any more pics? I'd be keen to see what's new.

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Does anyone have replacement suggestions for the CA3094? You've got it marked as part of a 5517 on the schematic, by the way. Yeah, I just used one half of the 5517 to get the schematic together, I'll need to swap it out to get the board started and tidy up the schematic. Not sure my free version o...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

The schematic on page 2 is updated. I've had to guess a little at the trim pot but I think it's right.

Yup, that's great, many thanks.

the width switch does not connect to the internal trimpot (take a look at the small stone lfo).
Thanks. I'll update the schematic above when I get a chance.

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Thanks for that! I have the 2-4 stage switch figured out ok and all the pots (i think). I've only got the free version of EAGLE so I might ditch some of the other switches to fit it all in. Would it be possible to get a closer shot of the bottom left hand quarter of the board? I'm not sure if I have...

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

That would be awesome. Thanks!
I can read the boxed polys ok but the five red polys, the two ceramic caps and all the electrolytics would be great, also the diode marked as D2. I can guess some values from the small stone phasor scematic but just incase... :thumbsup

Re: Blackout Effectors - Whetstone Phaser [guts] [traced]

Trying to complete a schematic of this in EAGLE for a board, not sure I've got it right. Cannot figure out what is going on with the 3pdt switch in the middle. I've seen a gutshot of the version 2 and it has been changed to a dpdt. What i've got so far (grounds and voltage connections missing, I kno...

Thanks, I should have checked. I can't find any reference to voltages from an original unit in the thread to compare. Did Mr Bill take any?
