Re: Sarno Earth Drive

....whatever amount of copying and component-swap tinkering Brad may have done in getting there, the end product does reliably produce a very nice drive sound. Yes, but this is because he recycled, with minimal and inconsequential changes, a relatively original design that Paul Cochrane came up wit...

Re: Help converting 2P3T slide switch to DPDT toggle

Contact 1 connects pins 1&5 to 2, 3 or 4. Contact 2 connects pins 6&10 to either 9, 8 or 7 . Your switch needs a minimum of three throws , i.e. three possible positions. A DPDT is a "double pole double throw " so cannot be used since it does not have enough throws. You can get rot...

Welcome to FSB! Very cool that you have an OG Superfuzz. Firstly, I would advise posting this in the section here: https://www.freestompboxes.org/viewforum.php?f=73 ...because the circuit analysis section (vintage/modern/boutique) is meant to be dedicated to tracing and documenting the schematics fo...

Thanks for all your work on this. I am still curious about R7: It would make much more sense to have this vref resistor connected to Q1's base rather than the emitter (as with Q5).

There are two types of DPDT on-on-on, the diagram uses type 1 (the most common version):

Re: Boss - FA-1 Fet Amplifier [schematic]

How do I have to connect the gate of the FET? In the original unit, the 3M3 restistor goes to a voltage divider, close to 3V. I guess that you plan to replace the main vref (i.e. the node of the 15k+6k8 || 22k voltage divider = 4.5ish volts) that supplies the opamps with a connection to the ground/...

Re: Rift Amplification - EL34 [traced]

there's another big red cap (above the transistor in the pictures) not included in the schem - maybe connected permanently from emitter to ground in parallel with the switchable boost cap?

I don't think it matters, but if you're keen on accuracy univibe order is 15nf, 220n, 470p then 4n7 (for C1, C2, C3, C4 as labelled on the layout karul posted above).

And to think the original manufacturer could have easily solved everything. Just build a prototype, give the board another spin so components fit, look up the rules for mains wiring and adjust accordingly (not even heatshrink on those connections). Also, determine a good routing for cables, and tie...

So boutique pedals are properly made these days, huh? I think Guillaume Fairfield has been making them (professionally) like this since 2008, but I agree that there are probably far fewer conmen amongst the successful "boutique" builders nowadays. I really like the way his pedals look lik...

Re: Ampeg - Phazzer [schematic]

I was thinking that I'd hold off on this until I got a 2n4126 but since it's just a mixing stage then I'm going to go ahead and breadboard it with a sub for the 2n4126 and 1n5232 and see how that goes. In some ways it would make more sense to use an opamp for that final mixer, if you use quads and ...
