Don't post in this forum asking is there is a schematic or layout or info on XXX pedal.
There is a subforum setup for requests already. It is located here:
REQUESTS FORUM
Any requests posted here will be moved to proper sub forum, and I'll also make nasty remarks about your mother.
also, if you have a problem with your build, post it in the WORKBENCH. these threads are for circuit analysis only. by all means, if you discover something we should...
I'm experimenting with the EHX Small clone, but don't really understand why they put the transistor at the start of the circuit, why not just have a bit of filtering instead of the extra stuff.
Just curious.
I should add, I'm using two LM13700 OTA Ics instead of multiple CA3094s.
I am still trying to get a Rockman X100 I built a year or so ago fully working. I am getting too much compression despite adding a potentiometer to try to control it better. I have been looking at rockman.fr which is a mine of information on all the Rockman products. I think my problem relates to the 2n4339 FET transistor which needs to be properly biased. On the schematic, there are two resistors with guide values of 6.8 M and 5.1 M with a note that the specific values are factory selected to...
In patent 4627094 of December 2, 1986, Tom Scholz described a guitar compressor.
He also highlighted an issue with the release times of the compressor.
Tom described the ADSR curve of a guitar signal as follows:
On a guitar, the first sound or pulse that comes out can be a huge peak which is almost always much stronger than the signal that follows after a few milliseconds.
Then he described the problem with his earlier versions of the compressor:
I traced this one a few months ago and never got around to putting the schematic up here. The only thing that bothers me is how the 9v supply is hooked up to the cathode of the bypass LED. I still have the box but the owner is not willing to desolder the caps to find the values. Any way to measure them in circuit to get a rough idea of what the are? In my experience NP0/C0G caps are usually lighter in color....like a grey and the X7R caps are a darker brown so that's how I marked them on the...
I have this Coron Distortion III which I got in an auction lot with a few other pedals.
Since I haven't seen a schematic for this online, and I wanted to practice doing a trace, I thought I'd give it a go.
I've added my trace files in case you can spot any mistakes.
Furthermore, I haven't been able to identify Q5, but my guess is that it could be a j-fet. It's marked 304 F1L and comes in a TO-92 case. The middle pin goes to ground and the other two measures...
Just got my VH4 pedal today. Pretty cool idea getting that CH3 VH4 tone from a pedal. Definitely a lot of chunk to say its solid state.
I use it in a preamp config blended with a boogie Tri-axis with custom 5 band eq i built into a boogie 2:90 power amp so vh4 is coming out
of one side of my cab and TA out of the other so its blended in stereo etc....
Not sure if its worth what it is from thomann. Yeah the sound is cool and works well to the power amp but the build quality isn't really there...
I have been wanting to do this for decades.... Make a pedal that has the Rockman Distortion sound. The chorus and echo would be other pedals.
I would like to collaborate with those willing to on this forum in creating a circuit that can be used in a pedal format.
The compression and fixed EQ sections seem to have the greatest influence on how 'that' sound is produced. The pedal version would have controls for gain, level and perhaps some EQ tweaking control. A foot switch for Edge / Dist...
I haven't seen this one here already, so I gave it a trace both for personal fun and curiosity:
bassmuff.png
Some values aren't there because they weren't marked on the silkscreen like the others, and I'm not going to pull them out to check. You get the gist of it though: they basically doubled up most caps with another one in parallel. The tone stack is a flatter variant. The bass boost literally mixes some lowpassed signal with the tone stack output. The parallel dry blend is done in a...
I didn't see the newer Big Muff schematics up anywhere, so I traced mine while I had it apart. I bought it sometime in 2014, PCB reads EC-3003 REV_E. Ref Des on the schematic should match the PCB. Level pot may be wrong (Silk says 500kA) as I replaced the pots almost immediately after getting it because one of the awful, awful ones that came stock broke.
Hopefully this will help people looking to mod theirs.
Compressor before Distortion vs Piecewise function generator before Distortion
In some patents, Tom Scholz extols the virtues of compression before distortion
In fact, almost every SRD product that has distortion stage has also a compressor before it
The compressor evens out the initial high energy attack and effectively boosts the sustain at the end of a note, feeding the distortion stage with a more even signal from start to finish than if it was fed directly with a guitar. This makes the...
Despite some glowing reports on this shiny rascal I rather dislike it, sounds brittle and not rich at all. I'm playing a strat and despite the tone knob it just does not warm up. Has anybody modded this pedal? Any adjustments inside? Lastly although it says it's analog It seems distinctly digital to me.
Dear all,
A friend of mine have a Darkglass Tone Capsule. Actually he send me a photo of the device.
I asked more Photos with more details.
Somebody is interested to help me to tracing this electronic?
Anybody know what causes what seems to be an energization problem with these PDS pedals? The pedal will turn on instantly and light up, but the effect doesn't function until maybe 10 or so seconds. Switch to a different delay timing, and the issue starts all over. I've replaced all the aluminum caps but the issue pertains. One PDS pedal in the past had the same issue yet corrected with new caps. I have another chorus pedal of a different brand that has the same issue, but the caps are also...
A lot of people really like the old Rockman modules. They have been out of production for a long time now yet there are no schematics available. I understand the US patents expire after 20 years so they would not now be covered (?). Looking at pictures of the stereo chorus pcbs, it looks like it would be possible to clone it and I would love to have a go but without an accurate schematic it would be a world of pain. Has anybody else tried this?
And the last for Today. Boy, what an ugly-sounding one this is.
Fortunately it bears enough resemblance to, let's say, a Roland Bee Gee to be able to do some overhauling and turning it into something else than a paperweight or door stopper.
As us', unverified, checked two times but not three, etc etc.
Can't for the life of me find the bloody pics of the innards, but if anybody needs/wants 'em, I can reopen the thing and take a few shots.
I quite liked the stock sound on this one. I am using it more than my TS9 lately...
Should not be too hard to convert into a better thing though. PCB looks neat, no brittle feel or artifacts.
Hadn't gotten around to post this one yet.
Another cheapo, yet not awful-sounding one.
The circuit does not seem to stray too far from your standard OD. It has a fairly flat freq response but a limited drive range.
I'll get around to modding it at some point, but the bastard crapped on me shortly after reassembling it and I couldn't be bothered to reopen it.
Trace double-but-not-triple-checked. Pinch of salt, etc.
Here are some guts of the Boss OD-3 (slightly modified):
Anybody knows who or where is Monte Allum (inium ?) who changed some 47n capacitors to another brand ?
Maybe I should change my nick to Monte Christo ?
